The upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ movie in the MCU is getting a lot of buzz lately. Just a few weeks ago, they announced the release date and cast, confirming what fans have been waiting for. Pedro Pascal is set to play Reed Richards, while Vanessa Kirby will portray Sue Storm. Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn will play The Thing and the Human Torch, respectively.

Since they announced the movie’s release date, we’ve been expecting filming to begin in the summer. But now, CanWeGetSomeToast, a trusted industry source, has some updates. They say filming will start in August confirming what we know, and there’s a possibility Franklin Richards will appear in the film, although we’re not sure how significant his role will be.

From what we’ve gathered, it seems the movie will mostly be set in the past, possibly featuring a younger version of Franklin. Fans have been eagerly waiting for this film, considering its long development journey. It all started in December 2017 when Disney announced the acquisition of 21st Century Fox, giving Marvel control over properties like the Fantastic Four and X-Men. After the acquisition was finalized in 2019, plans for a reboot began to surface.

In the following years, Kevin Feige confirmed the reboot, but it wasn’t until 2022 that Jon Watts was set to direct. However, he left the project and was replaced by Matt Shakman in September 2022. Due to delays and strikes, production had to be pushed to January 2024 in London, but even that timeline wasn’t met. The cast was finally confirmed recently. ‘The Fantastic Four’ is scheduled to be released on July 25, 2025.
