Rumors: Filming for ‘Shang-Chi 2’ Is Set To Start in 2025, Featuring the Return of One Major Character
Marvel Studios and Disney have several projects in the pipeline, despite recent plans to scale back movie and show production due to mixed results. However, fans are eagerly anticipating some projects, including the sequel to ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.’
In December 2021, development began on the sequel with director and writer Cretton and star Liu expected to return. Liu expressed interest in exploring his character’s journey with the Ten Rings in the MCU. However, by July 2023, Liu was unsure about the sequel’s production timeline. He mentioned it was slated for release after ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,’ delayed from 2025 to 2026. He anticipated more details to emerge soon.
Now, according to notable insider Daniel Richtman, there’s a significant update: filming for the movie is set to start as early as 2025, with a focus on time travel. Excitingly, the rumor suggests that Iron Fist might make an appearance.
We previously reported that an Iron Fist project was in the works, focusing on a female-led story. However, it’s unclear if this is the same project or if Iron Fist will have a more significant role in the MCU moving forward. At this point, anything is possible.
Considering Marvel Studios might be changing their content release strategy, ‘Shang-Chi 2’ seems like a smart move, given the success of the first movie. Additionally, the delayed release of ‘Avengers 5’ to 2026 gives ‘Shang-Chi 2’ ample time to shine.
