Marvel Studios has a slew of projects in the pipeline, and while fans eagerly await updates on ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ and ‘The Fantastic Four’ reboot, one project that has been generating buzz for years is ‘Ironheart.’ Despite years of anticipation, the series has faced delays in development and release.

In July 2018, a film based on the Marvel Comics character Riri Williams/Ironheart had a script by Jada Rodriguez and was listed on The Black List. However, the film never materialized. In December 2020, Marvel Studios announced the development of a Disney+ television series titled ‘Ironheart,’ with Chinaka Hodge appointed as the head writer in April 2021. In March 2022, it was disclosed that Ryan Coogler, the director of ‘Black Panther,’ was involved in the production, and Dominique Thorne, Ironheart’s star, makes her first appearance in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’ Coogler’s Proximity Media is collaborating with Marvel Studios on select Disney+ series, and in April, it was confirmed that Proximity Media would produce ‘Ironheart,’ with directors Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes each directing three episodes.

Initially slated for a late 2023 debut, recent filings suggest that the approximate release date will likely be late 2025. As the show’s release date approaches, internet chatter is revealing some plot details. Notably, Daniel Richtman, a reputable leaker and scooper on X, recently shared his own synopsis of the show.

Reportedly, the series will center around the conventional theme of “overcoming adversity despite one’s circumstances,” featuring a blend of challenges involving demons, unpredictable magic, and the revelation of a 17-year-old vendetta.

Enthusiasts quickly noted that the mentioned vendetta might be connected to Obadiah Stane’s son. Obadiah Stane, Tony Stark’s former business partner and a friend of his late father, Howard Stark, briefly assumed the role of CEO at Stark Industries after Howard’s passing. Stane’s resentment towards Tony prompted him to betray him, joining forces with the Ten Rings in a failed attempt to assassinate Tony and reclaim control of the company. Stane supplied Stark Industries weapons to the Ten Rings for their activities in Gulmira. Following the Ten Rings’ failure, Stane double-crossed and executed them. When his ties to terrorists were exposed, Stane crafted an armored suit known as Iron Monger to eliminate Stark, leading to his own demise in the ensuing confrontation.

Regardless, the premise sounds intriguing, and anticipation is high to see what the completed show will offer viewers. ‘Ironheart’ is scheduled for release in the latter half of 2025, comprising six episodes as part of Phase Five in the MCU.
