‘Rust’ Star Alec Baldwin Is Trying To Sell His Hamptons Home Again, and the Price Keeps Getting More Interesting
Celebrity real estate has a funny way of becoming its own long-running subplot, complete with cliffhangers, reversals, and just enough drama to keep fans checking back in every few months. Few properties have tested that pattern quite like one particular Hamptons estate that just can’t seem to find its final chapter.
For years, the story surrounding this particular property has followed a familiar rhythm: list it, cut the price, pull it, then bring it right back. This latest chapter appears to be no exception.
Alec Baldwin has relisted his Hamptons home for $19 million, marking the fourth time he’s put the Amagansett property up for sale since originally purchasing it in 1996 for just $1.7 million. According to TMZ, the new asking price comes in $2 million lower than last year’s attempt, when Baldwin sought $21 million but ultimately failed to find a buyer.
The 10-acre estate has become something of a fixture in Baldwin’s public life, having previously served as the backdrop for the family’s short-lived TLC reality series ‘The Baldwins.’ Alec, wife Hilaria, and their seven kids primarily live in New York City, with the sprawling farmhouse functioning as their summer retreat rather than a full-time residence.
The home’s journey to market has been anything but straightforward. Baldwin originally listed the estate for a lofty $29 million back in November 2022, only to slash the price twice within the following year before pulling the listing entirely in September 2023.
He brought it back in January 2024 at a reduced $18.995 million, and reportedly even accepted an offer on the home later that year before ultimately deciding to keep it, according to reporting in The New York Times. Around that same period, Baldwin told the outlet that the estate was “a kid’s home that I never want to leave”, a sentiment that clearly didn’t stop him from repeatedly testing the market anyway. AOL
Adding to the property’s colorful sales pitch, Baldwin even starred in a promotional video for the brokerage firm Saunders & Associates, reflecting on his decades-long history in the area. In the clip, he recalled having a home on the East End of Long Island since 1981, reminiscing about renting his first place nearby before eventually purchasing the current estate in the mid-1990s, a video first reported by USA Today.
The 10,000-square-foot farmhouse, reportedly originally built in 1740, comes loaded with amenities befitting its price tag, including a wood-paneled library, wine-tasting room, home theater, and a saltwater pool surrounded by expansive grounds. Real estate agents have previously noted that ultra-luxury properties across the Hamptons have faced increasingly longer selling timelines in recent years, suggesting star power alone isn’t enough to guarantee a quick sale in the current market.
Whether this latest price cut finally attracts a serious buyer remains to be seen, especially given the property’s now well-documented pattern of listings, withdrawals, and relistings over the past several years. For now, Baldwin’s Hamptons retreat continues its unusual real estate saga, leaving fans and prospective buyers alike wondering if this attempt will finally be the one that sticks.
