Ryan Gosling In Talks To Bring Star Power to Shawn Levy’s Star Wars Adventure!

Several new Star Wars movies are on the way, including ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu,’ set to release on May 22, 2026, directed by Jon Favreau. Other projects are being developed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Dave Filoni, and James Mangold, though some are still early in production.
Additionally, films like ‘Lando’ starring Donald Glover, and ‘Rogue Squadron’ directed by Patty Jenkins are in the works, but their future is unclear. Shawn Levy is also attached to an untitled Star Wars movie, though details are scarce.
In November 2022, reports emerged about Levy directing a Star Wars film after his success with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘Stranger Things.’ However, in September 2023, Levy shared that the project had been delayed due to the Writers Guild of America strike earlier that year.
Following the release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Levy confirmed that he is actively working on a movie so this development is not at all surprising. Several insiders recently reported that the movie is reportedly being fast-tracked in the production and the filming might begin as early as 2025. Now THR reports that mega-star Ryan Gosling is in talks to star in the movie.
Shawn Levy’s Star Wars movie doesn’t have a confirmed timeline or setting yet. It’s unclear if it involves Jedi, Sith, or the larger galactic conflicts, but it will be separate from the Skywalker Saga and focus on new characters. Sources say it will be a stand-alone film.
Previous rumors claimed that the movie was originally supposed to follow older Rey Skywalker.
Ryan Gosling’s involvement has fast-tracked the project, making it likely to be Levy’s next movie and the next Star Wars film to start production.
Filming could begin this fall. Levy was originally planning a boy band movie, but Gosling’s interest shifted focus to Star Wars. Lucasfilm has not commented on the project.
