‘Scooby-Doo: Origins’ McKenna Grace Brings Doll-Like Charm to Target’s Beauty Studio Celebration
Retail launches don’t usually double as red carpets, but Target has been working hard to turn its beauty aisles into a genuine destination. The retailer’s new Beauty Studio concept is its biggest bet yet on the category, and McKenna Grace just gave the Target Beauty Studio celebration a dose of Hollywood sparkle.
The concept arrived at a pivotal moment for the company. Target Beauty Studio launched on September 10 in more than 600 stores and on Target.com, filling the gap left by the end of the retailer’s partnership with Ulta Beauty, which dated back to 2021.
Now the brand is celebrating in style, and Grace was among the famous faces on hand. The actress and singer attended the Target Beauty Studio Celebration Event, with Getty photographer Presley Ann capturing her posing among the displays.
Her look leaned fully into a sweet, vintage-inspired aesthetic. Grace wore a white cropped top with an oversized Peter Pan collar, a matching mini skirt with a belt, white knee-high socks, and burgundy Mary Jane shoes, with her long blonde hair styled in soft waves and bangs.
The photos show her in front of a deep red booth emblazoned with the phrase “beauty worth craving,” while another shot finds her beside shelves stocked with Glamazon products. The palette of reds and pinks made for a perfectly on-brand backdrop for her soft, doll-like styling.

The Beauty Studio spaces feature more than 1,600 products from 90 brands, and more than two-thirds of those brands are new to Target. Names like Dyson, Sunday Riley, St. Tropez, and Boy Smells are part of the lineup, along with products from Ariana Grande, SARELLY, Glamazon Beauty, and Tula Skincare.
Shoppers can also expect dedicated Beauty Advisors in signature uniforms, product testing for select items, and an assortment of minis. Target’s senior vice president of merchandising, essentials and beauty, Amanda Nusz, framed the concept as a place where guests can pick up their standbys while discovering what’s new and trending.
The celebrations aren’t limited to celebrity events, either. On September 26, stores are hosting in-store parties from noon to 4 p.m. local time, where the first 100 guests at most locations receive a Target Circle bonus, and select stores are offering additional giveaways.
The timing makes sense for the retailer. Target’s second-quarter earnings showed beauty sales jumping about 7%, outpacing the company’s overall merchandise growth of 5%.
The appearance comes during a packed stretch for the 20-year-old star. Her supernatural thriller ‘The Last Kiss’, directed by Yoko Okumura, hit digital platforms on September 15, with Grace playing a character cursed with the ability to foresee death through kisses.
She has also been busy on the music front. Grace released her new single ‘Bones and All’ on September 25, following her June return with ‘Ugly and Rotten’, her first solo single in more than 2 years. She has said the new track was inspired by watching the film ‘Bones and All’ and diving into a rabbit hole of gothic movies.
Her screen slate is just as crowded. Grace appeared in ‘Scream 7’ earlier this year, returned for ‘Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie’, and is part of ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’, which is set for November 20.
She’s also been cast in Netflix’s live-action ‘Scooby-Doo’ series and stars alongside Green Day and Mason Thames in the road trip comedy ‘Nimrods’. Between films, music, and fashion moments like this one, the former ‘Gifted’ breakout is clearly enjoying a defining creative era.
