Season 4 of ‘The Mandalorian’ Reportedly Not in Plans
Jon Favreau, the creator of The Mandalorian, announced that the script for Season 4 was finished before Season 3 concluded, but it now seems that the fourth season may not happen at all.
Season 3 wrapped up with Moff Gideon appearing to be defeated and Mando adopting Grogu, establishing a sense of peace that would require a new threat to arise for Season 4 to be plausible.
After the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA and writers’ strikes, speculation arose that The Mandalorian Season 4 might be completely abandoned in favor of a movie. These rumors gained momentum when it was revealed that Pedro Pascal would not be returning physically for the series due to his commitments to The Last of Us Season 2 and the upcoming Gladiator film, meaning he would only provide Mando’s voiceover.
Several months ago, those rumors were confirmed with the announcement of a film focusing on The Mandalorian and Grogu. The movie was announced in January 2024 and began filming in California in August 2024.
So, what’s the status of The Mandalorian Season 4? According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, it appears that the fourth season will not take place at all.
As previously noted, rumors about the cancellation have been circulating for at least nine months. Six months ago, Brendan Wayne, who portrays the physical manifestation of Din Djarin (voiced by Pascal) in The Mandalorian, stated on The Chatooine Show on YouTube that there are currently no plans for a fourth season of the series.
He indicated that Lucasfilm and Disney are now prioritizing a feature film instead.
No [Season 4]. I know that we’re doing a movie for sure, that’s what I know.
While Lucasfilm and Disney have not made any official statements, the current outlook doesn’t seem promising.
