‘Secret Invasion’: Emilia Clarke Fights for Her Life in a New Set Clip
Secret Invasion is an upcoming miniseries created by Kyle Bradstreet and based on the Marvel Comics storyline of the same name. The story follows Fury and Talos trying to stop the Skrulls, a sect of shapeshifting aliens who have infiltrated the highest spheres of the Marvel Universe. The cast consists of stars like Emilia Clarke, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Olivia Colman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Carmen Ejogo, Christopher McDonald, and Killian Scott.
Emilia Clarke’s character has just been seen fighting for her life in the new video from the Secret Invasion set. In the clip, we see Clarke’s character laying on the ground and struggling to defend herself against the person holding their hands around her neck. Since the attacker wears motion capture gear, fans are sure he cannot be human and is most likely a Skrull instead.
Clarke commented on her collaboration with Marvel last year, sharing her excitement about being part of “the cool kid crowd”.
“I just think what they’re doing right now is so exciting and so cool, and so on the cutting edge of it. I feel like they’re like the Apple of this world. To be part of that family feels like, ‘Oh my god, I’m in the cool kid crowd. That’s so cool.’ Honestly speaking, the people that are making this are what pushed me over the line to really wanting to do it. I just think that everyone’s heart and heads are in the right place with this one.”
Marvel Comics Secret Invasion event series featured practically every character in the Marvel Universe, but this will not be the case with the upcoming series, as Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed last year. Producer Jonathan Schwartz also revealed that the series will differ from the comic in other aspects as well, but refused to share much detail.
“Like all of [Marvel’s] adaptations, it’s definitely not a 1:1 adaptation of the comic books, although it takes a lot of that kind of paranoid spirit, and runs with it. I think that’s literally everything I can say about it. We’re going to leave the secret in Secret Invasion for now.”
The six-episode Secret Invasion series is expected to debut on Disney+ in 2022.
