Shazam! Fury Of The Gods: New Teaser Released Ahead Of The Comic-Con Appearance
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is the upcoming sequel to the 2019 original movie starring Zachary Levi. Set in the DCEU, the first Shazam! movie was released in April 2019. The movie received positive reviews for its light tone and sense of fun, and grossed $366 million against the $100 million budget. Although the movie didn’t earn as much as some other DCEU movies like Aquaman and Wonder Woman, it was still successful enough for WB to greenlight a sequel.
WB initially announced that the sequel will arrive in June 2023, before the schedule was reshuffled and the movie was moved up to December 2022; first to December 16, and then it was moved to December 21 to avoid direct competition with Avatar: The Way of Water. Although we didn’t get any official trailers so far, it is expected that we could get something solid at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
On the movie’s official Twitter account, a short teaser was revealed, announcing that the movie will have a panel at SDCC on July 23. You can check the teaser down below:
Zachary Levi and Asher Angel are both returning to their roles of Shazam and Billy Batson. Jack Dylan Grazer returns as Billy’s friend and foster brother Freddy, while Djimon Hounsou returns as the wizard Shazam. Rachel Zegler joined the movie in an undisclosed role. Helen Mirren and Lucy Lie joined the movie as villains Hespera and Kalypso, daughters of Atlas.
Directed by David F. Sandberg from the script written by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to be released on December 21, 2022.
