Speculation: Initial Plans Suggested Karen & Foggy’s Off-Screen Death in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

One of the highly anticipated upcoming projects in the MCU is ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Despite early excitement surrounding its development, fans were surprised to learn that it would not continue the narrative from Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ series but rather opt for a soft reboot. Disappointment grew when it was revealed that the show would include episodes without Daredevil in action, focusing more on a legal drama approach as he tries to move on from his vigilante past, mirroring Kingpin’s journey.
The absence of Karen and Foggy from the series was disheartening for fans who had become attached to these characters pivotal in Daredevil’s development. The studio later announced scrapping the current show due to being deemed “a bit boring,” opting for a new direction aligned with the faithful portrayal of the comic character. While some existing footage will be retained, much of the storyline will be reworked from scratch.
The final episodes of the first season will be directed by Benson and Moorhead, with the exact number remaining uncertain. Corman and Ord will serve as executive producers. Marvel is shifting its television production strategy, moving towards a more traditional approach with showrunners, pilots, and series bibles, departing from the previous movie-style creation process.
Just recently, confirmation emerged that ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will include both Karen and Foggy, a clear indication of a revised storyline. As reported in the InSneider Newsletter, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson are set to reprise their respective roles, sparking speculation about how their initially planned absence in the series was meant to be explained. The rumored scenario suggests that their characters were intended to meet their demise between the events of Netflix’s Season 3 and ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’
Previously, a Marvel Studios source asserted that Deborah Ann Woll wasn’t even under consideration for the original ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ causing frustration among fans. Nonetheless, the return of Karen and Foggy is warmly welcomed by fans who fondly remember their standout performances in the Netflix show.
Scheduled for a Disney+ premiere in 2025, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will consist of 18 episodes released in two halves. Although initially slated for early 2024, the series faced delays due to filming challenges amid industry strikes. It is positioned within Phase Five of the MCU.
