When you’re a cinephile, talks about how much money some movie made is always imminent, especially when it comes to huge blockbusters. The latest MCU movie — Spider-Man: No Way Home — is definitely one of those films.

The latest Marvel flick was released in December of 2021, and it grossed $1.77 billion worldwide, out of which $748 at the domestic box office. That makes No Way Home the fourth highest-grossing movie at the domestic box office, and if it keeps going like this, it might take third place from James Cameron’s 2009 epic sci-fi Avatar.

Although Spider-Man: No Way Home is not even close to Avatar when it comes to total box-office numbers. No Way Home is still very much close to Cameron’s movie at the domestic box office. Avatar has grossed $2.85 billion worldwide, which makes it the highest-grossing film of all time, but only $760 million was made domestically. No Way Home has grossed $749 million at the domestic box office so far, so with roughly $11 million more, it could surpass the Avatar, domestically at least.

At the domestic box office, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is still the highest-grossing movie of all time with $936 million, while the second place is being held by Avengers: Endgame with $858 million. With any luck, No Way Home might take third place soon, which would leave Avatar the fourth place. Well, at least Avatar is still officially the highest-grossing movie of all time in total, and we’ll see how the highly anticipated sequel — Avatar 2 – will do at the box-office in December this year when finally hits theaters 13 years after the original.
