Spider-Man’s Most Brutal Hulk Showdown Yet Just Got Its Clearest Look, and It’s Every Bit as Chaotic as Fans Hoped

Marvel and Sony have spent weeks stretching out one single fight in their marketing for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ and the strategy has turned the film’s Hulk showdown into arguably the most talked about superhero brawl of the summer. Every trailer drop has added another piece to the puzzle, teasing glimpses of Bruce Banner, hints of a suppression device, and brief flashes of destruction without ever showing the full picture. The rollout has been careful, with Sony controlling exactly how much of the fight it reveals at any given time.

That control has made sense given what is actually at stake in the story. Peter Parker is living alone in this film, having erased himself from the memories of everyone around him, and is fighting crime full time in a New York that no longer knows his name. The pressure of that isolation sparks a physical mutation that threatens his own existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes introduces one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.

The newest clip, shared by the account Cosmic Marvel, finally delivers on that buildup. The footage gives fans their clearest look yet at Spider-Man locked in a full scale midair struggle with a rampaging Hulk, with the two figures crashing through what looks like a violent electrical storm. It lines up with a wave of recent promotional material confirming this fight sits at the very center of the movie.

Earlier scenes have shown Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner demonstrating a suppression device meant to keep his transformation under control, only for that device to inevitably fail him. Banner resurfaces in the film as an ally trying to help Peter suppress the strange mutation currently taking over his Spider-Man abilities, which makes the eventual breakdown of his own control feel especially cruel. Once that trigger hits, the prevailing theory points to Sadie Sink’s still unrevealed character as the one unleashing the Savage Hulk, and possibly even steering him, though Marvel and Sony have confirmed nothing about who she is playing.

Peter does not go into this fight empty handed either. Other footage has shown Spider-Man taking the fight to the Hulk while wearing a modified Shocker gauntlet, with the brawl tearing through the gutted remains of a building, and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher jumping in to unload gunfire on the Green Goliath as he leaps past the wall crawler.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Is Shaping Up To Be Tom Holland’s Second-Biggest Opening Ever

All of this teasing appears to be paying off in a big way. According to tracking data reported by Cosmic Book News, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is heading toward a domestic opening in the $180 million range, which would make it the biggest opening weekend of 2026. Survey numbers reportedly have the film sitting at the highest awareness and interest levels Sony has tracked for a Spider-Man release in years.

With ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ swinging into theaters on July 31, there is not much time left before Peter’s showdown with the Hulk plays out in full. Does this Savage Hulk brawl live up to the hype the marketing has built around it, or is Sony saving something even bigger for the actual movie?
