Why ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Fans Should Be Thrilled About This Upcoming MCU Show
Despite announcing a scaled-back creative slate, Marvel Studios still has several projects in active development, including a live-action “Nova” series. The show has been in the works for a while, but only recently did Marvel executives confirm it as a legitimate project.
In July, Kevin Feige revealed that “Nova” is officially in development, with a focus on Richard Rider as the central character. However, the series is still 3-4 years away from its release.
Given Nova’s storylines, we can anticipate plenty of cosmic adventures—a detail recently confirmed by Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum during an interview with the Phase Zero Podcast.
He mentioned that the show draws inspiration from “Star Trek” and “Battlestar Galactica.”
The Nova that’s being developed right now, it’s an amazing ensemble piece. I shouldn’t say too much, but it’s like a great case of characters that’s got shades of [Star]Trek , shades of Battlestar Galactica
With influences from “Star Trek” and “Battlestar Galactica,” we can expect the show to feature extensive exploration and cosmic conflicts—elements that the Nova Corps. are well-equipped to handle. While details about the show and the actor portraying Richard Rider remain scarce, there were rumors months ago that Ryan Gosling was in talks for the lead role.
At that time, it wasn’t clear that the MCU’s primary Nova would be Richard Rider, but in hindsight, Gosling seems like a fitting choice. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below!
