Star Wars Writer Teases Emilia Clarke’s Future In The Franchise
You don’t even need to be a Game of Thrones fan to know for which role Emilia Clarke is best known. The loveable English actress gained worldwide recognition thanks to the role of Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO hit fantasy series, for which she was nominated for 4 Primetime Emmy Awards. Apart from the role of Daenerys, Clarke is also known for the movie roles in Terminator Genisys, Me Before You, and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Emilia Clarke played Qi’ra, a former love interest of Alden Ehrenreich’s titular character. The movie showed us the origin story of Han Solo before the events of A New Hope. Despite the cast which assembled some known names, including Woody Harrelson and Paul Bettany, the movie received mixed reviews from fans and it became the first Star Wars box office bomb, with only $393.2 million grossed against the reported budget of $300 million.
Due to that, it’s not likely that this spin-off will ever get a sequel, and even though we know that Han met Luke Skywalker and the rest of the gang after the events of the spin-off, there are still characters whose fate remains unknown, including Qi’ra. However, the movie’s co-writer Jonathan Kasdan now reveals that he talked with Jon Favreau, the creator of The Mandalorian series, to explore more of Qi’ra’s story.
“I think someday we’re gonna see what happened, and how Qi’ra sort of advanced through the world, through the crime syndicates. I’ve talked to Jon Favreau about it, and he’s a big fan of [Solo] and some of the stuff we built out. And I said, ‘Well, you’re the guy to figure it out.’ I always look to him to keep the story alive and keep it going. Star Wars is going in so many fun directions. And specifically, I saw that trailer for Andor today, and I thought, ‘Well, Enfys Nest is gonna show up somewhere in that show.’ So I’m hopeful that a lot of those people continue the journeys they were on.” — Jonathan Kasdan for ScreenRant
Emilia Clarke is set to join Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion. Her role wasn’t specified, but it’s known that Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, and Cobie Smulders will reprise the roles of Nick Fury, Talos, and Maria Hill, respectively.
