Stranger Things Creators Promise We Won’t Wait For Season 5 As Much As We Did For Season 4

The fourth season of the acclaimed Netflix series Stranger Things premiered today with the first seven episodes, and the last two episodes, which are more like two movies, are set to be released on July 1, 2022. The third season of the series premiered back in 2019, so we’re watching the fourth season after years of hiatus, which is a pretty long gap, we can all agree.

The Duffer Brothers, Matt and Ross, announced earlier this year that they already pitched the fifth season to Netflix and confirmed that the fifth season will be the last one. Although, it’s not known how we’ll need to wait for the fifth season, and we can only hope the hiatus won’t be so long again. In a recent interview, the brothers said that the hiatus will be shorter, which is to be expected because the pandemic of COVID-19 in 2020 also delayed the development of the fourth season.

“Don’t hold us to it, but the gap should be quite a bit shorter this time, due to the fact that we already have an initial outline, and we can’t imagine there will be another six-month forced hiatus.” — The Duffer Brothers for Variety

If we can use our powers of prognostication, we doubt we’ll see Stranger Things 5 before the second half of 2023, at the earliest. Earlier this month, the brothers confirmed that Season 5 is already in active development, and if the production starts by the end of this year, we could see the series finale in late 2023 or early 2024. Time will tell.

Stranger Things 4 consists of nine episodes. The first seven episodes are now streaming on Netflix, and the final two episodes will drop on the streamer on July 1, 2022.
