But, with Super Saiyan God having a superior name, many fans wonder whether Super Saiyan Blue is really stronger than Super Saiyan God, and which would win in a fight.
Super Saiyan God is incredibly powerful but was mainly important since it allowed characters to unlock Super Saiyan Blue, a more powerful form. Super Saiyan Blue was unlocked by combining Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God, making this form more powerful and more likely to win in a fight. However, it may come down to the user and experience.
Although there are plenty of theories speculating that Super Saiyan God is far stronger than Super Saiyan Blue, there are numerous factors that make Super Saiyan Blue more powerful. Super Saiyan God

Super Saiyan God has become one of the most popular forms amongst many Dragon Ball fans worldwide, but this form has not gotten as much screen time compared to many others. The name might suggest that it’s the most powerful form out there, but the backstory tells a different story.
When Goku first enters the Super Saiyan God form, he changes not only in power and hair color (a magenta-red that is identical to the color of his fur in Super Saiyan 4 form), but he also changes in overall stature. According to onlookers, Goku achieves a more slimline, lean, agile, and youthful body in the process, making him far quicker than regular Super Saiyan forms.
Although, this effect does not extend to others who use the form, such as the Future Warrior and Shallot. This is since their stature and builds remain the same in their Super Saiyan God forms. But, a common factor is the aura of the Super Saiyan God, which resembles a raging fire.
The name “Super Saiyan God” often led Dragon Ball fans to believe Goku is a God in the Dragon Ball universe, but the name does not necessarily mean that it surpasses god-level or god-like powers. The name actually stems from the type of energy or ‘ki’ that the users apply in this form, as it is vastly different from the regular energy Saiyans use in battle.
As a result, the user will be granted some additional benefits, as god ki cannot be detected in the same way. According to the Dragon Ball Wiki:
“Super Saiyan God is a Saiyan transformation that grants the user godly ki, providing them with a power boost beyond Super Saiyan 3 and its predecessors.”
Super Saiyan God is initially achieved through a ritual, whereby six righteous Saiyans hold hands in a circle and transfer their ki into the Saiyan who is becoming the Saiyan God. This is then followed by a blue fiery aura that will appear throughout the circle, indicating the ritual’s success.
But, it can also be achieved by means of a special type of divine training. There are several advanced levels and variations of Super Saiyan God as well, namely:

Trained Super Saiyan God users can combine this form with the first Super Saiyan transformation, achieving a more powerful form – either Super Saiyan Blue or Super Saiyan Rosé, depending on the user and ki. Basic Super Saiyan forms can naturally lead into Super Saiyan Blue when a Saiyan is trained and achieves a high enough power.
The Super Saiyan Blue form can be obtained by a Saiyan who has successfully become a Super Saiyan God and managed to retain the power after the time runs out. Super Saiyan Blue is technically classified as a hybrid form of Super Saiyan God since Super Saiyan God is believed to be a base for achieving Super Saiyan Blue (at least, for the first time).

According to Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butōden, Super Saiyan Blue is the most powerful of all Super Saiyan transformations. This is at least applicable in general, apart from Saiyans who have special forms unique to themselves rather than having Saiyan blood, such as Goku’s Ultra Instinct form.

With all that being said, as much as form and power levels matter in the Dragon Ball universe, the ultimate factor in terms of who would win will always come down to the character – not solely Super Saiyan God or Super Saiyan Blue. Since Saiyan forms always adapt based on the user and their ki, it’s still possible for a masterful Super Saiyan God to beat down a less experienced Super Saiyan Blue.
