Rick Flag Sr. Arrests Superman in Thrilling New Video Teasing Mysterious Villain We Just Can’t Figure Out

‘Superman’ is currently filming in Cleveland, which was transformed into Metropolis last week. This shoot has provided our first clear look at Superman’s suit and many supporting characters.
The latest video from the set features Rick Flag Sr. arresting Superman, accompanied by The Engineer and another mysterious character, who appears to be a villain.

Frank Grillo as Rick Flag and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer were confirmed for the movie some time ago. Grillo is also set to reprise his role in the ‘Creature Commandos’ animated project and ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2. But who is the third character?
Superman’s new antagonist is hard to identify because, unlike other characters in Superman’s universe, this villain doesn’t wear a recognizable comic-accurate costume. Instead, he wears a completely black uniform and mask, black goggles, and has a U-shaped logo on his chest. Despite this, fans have been sharing their theories about his identity on social media.
The most obvious candidate, considering the “U” logo, is Ulysses. Ulysses, also known as Neil Quinn, was born on Earth, but his scientist parents sent him to another dimension called the Fourth Dimension to save him from an impending disaster they believed would destroy Earth. In the Fourth Dimension, Ulysses developed superpowers similar to Superman’s due to the unique properties of that realm.
Upon returning to Earth, Ulysses initially believes he is the last surviving human from his home planet. He meets Superman and sees him as a kindred spirit. However, as the story progresses, Ulysses’s views become more antagonistic. He attempts to take a large portion of Earth’s population to the Fourth Dimension, believing it to be a utopia compared to Earth.
The second most likely choice is Ultraman. Although Ultraman was teased as the main villain months ago, James Gunn debunked this a few hours later, stating that Lex Luthor would be the main antagonist. However, Gunn didn’t explicitly deny Ultraman’s appearance in the movie.
It’s worth noting that some of Gunn’s previous “debunks” have turned out to be true, such as the design of Superman’s suit. For more photos of the cast, check out the images below courtesy of Just Jared:
