T.J. Miller Declares He Wouldn’t Join Deadpool 3 Even If Asked: “I’m at a Place in My Life Where I Don’t Need to Do Deadpool 3”
Deadpool & Wolverine was released three weeks ago and is widely regarded as a major success, breaking box-office records. The film marks Deadpool’s and Wolverine’s debut in the MCU while also serving as a fitting farewell to characters from the Fox X-Men franchise and other Marvel properties.
The movie features a substantial cast, including Jennifer Garner returning as Elektra, Wesley Snipes reprising his role as Blade, and Dafne Keen returning as X-23 from Logan (2017).
The cast of previous Deadpool films largely returns, including Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Briana Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, and Stefan Kapičić. However, T.J. Miller is notably absent, and while the exact reason for his exclusion hasn’t been disclosed, several factors could be at play.
Since the release of the first Deadpool, Miller has faced sexual misconduct allegations and various legal issues. Additionally, his relationship with Ryan Reynolds, the film’s star, has been strained. Miller has previously described Reynolds as mean and insecure, even referring to him as “Crying Ryan” for allegedly being unable to tolerate others getting laughs.
Appearing in Deadpool & Wolverine could be a significant boost for one’s career, but Miller has stated that he would never work with Reynolds again and that he doesn’t need Deadpool 3 at all.
I would not have done Deadpool 3 even if they came to me, and they were like “we want you to make Deadpool 3”
Miller explained that the awkward incident he had with Reynolds on set is just one of the reasons he no longer wants to be involved with the movie.
That’s certainly a component, but really, the real reason is the same reason I left Silicon Valley, which is, I don’t really think you should do something more for more than five years. It’s weird to just go back and play Weasel, like, 10 years later.
While this may not be the full story, it’s clear that T.J. Miller will not be part of the Deadpool franchise going forward. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below!
