Taylor Sheridan’s ‘F.A.S.T.’ Just Gave Fans Their Clearest Look Yet at Brandon Sklenar’s Action Era
Taylor Sheridan has spent the last several years building a television empire, but the mastermind behind ‘Yellowstone’ is finally circling back to the medium that made his name in the first place. His early work on ‘Sicario,’ ‘Hell or High Water,’ and ‘Wind River’ proved his skill long before Paramount+ became his playground, and now he is stepping back into theaters with an original crime thriller called ‘F.A.S.T.’
The film reunites Sheridan with one of his own discoveries. Brandon Sklenar, who played Spencer Dutton opposite Sheridan on ‘1923,’ is headlining the project, and the film comes from an original script Sheridan wrote long before his current overall deal with Paramount. It marks his first time working with the actor outside the Yellowstone universe.
Now fans finally have proof the shoot is real and moving. Collider shared a new set photo that appears to show Brandon Sklenar between takes in Spain, where the production filmed quietly throughout late 2025. The image reportedly captures Sklenar wearing a dark brown jacket outside a production van, looking prepared for a potentially physical scene, with his stunt double visible nearby.
The shift in wardrobe says a lot about the character himself. Sklenar is trading horses for far quicker modes of transport this time, playing a down on his luck special forces commando in a story with real teeth. His character is tapped by the DEA to lead a black op strike team against CIA protected drug dealers, a premise that leans hard into Sheridan’s signature blend of grit and moral gray area.
Sklenar will not be carrying the film alone. Juliana Canfield was cast as the female lead, with LaKeith Stanfield, Jason Clarke, Sam Claflin, and Trevante Rhodes joining the cast in August, and Chloe Coleman later signed on to play the daughter of Sklenar’s commando. Behind the camera, Ben Richardson, the longtime ‘1923’ cinematographer, is making his feature directorial debut on the project.
Warner Bros. leadership has made no secret of how much they value the partnership. Studio executives Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy praised the “breadth of Taylor Sheridan’s body of work” as “astounding and unparalleled in sheer excellence and consistent quality” in a statement given to The Hollywood Reporter, adding that they were thrilled to have Richardson and the producing team from Heyday Films and Bosque Ranch on board.
‘F.A.S.T.’ is set to hit theaters on April 23, 2027, giving audiences plenty of time to speculate about what this new, faster paced side of Sklenar will look like. After watching him ride across Montana for two seasons, are you ready to see him running black ops instead?
