‘Teen Titans’ Movie to Bring Back Iconic Animated Lineup According to Reports
A few months ago, rumors started about a live-action Teen Titans movie being developed at DC Studios. These rumors were later confirmed, with Ana Nogueira announced as the screenwriter.
Nogueira is known for acting in shows like The Vampire Diaries, The Michael J. Fox Show, and Hightown. She’s also a talented writer, with her play Which Way to the Stage debuting off-Broadway in 2022. In November 2023, she was also revealed to be writing a Supergirl movie for DC.
Details about the Teen Titans movie plot are still under wraps, but fans are eager to know which characters will be part of the team.
The Teen Titans first appeared in the 1960s with Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Wonder Girl. Later, other young heroes like Speedy joined the team. The comics were aimed at younger readers and weren’t very popular until the 1980s.
In the 1980s, Marv Wolfman and George Perez rebooted the series as The New Teen Titans, adding Beast Boy, Cyborg, Raven, and Starfire to the group. This version became DC’s best-selling comic, thanks to stronger character development, relationships, and iconic villains. Its influence can still be seen in comics and media today.
Over time, the Teen Titans have been reimagined with different members. Currently, DC publishes Titans, featuring the classic 1980s team as adults. With so many characters having been part of the team, the upcoming movie has plenty of potential members to choose from.
Industry insider Daniel Richtman reports that the live-action Teen Titans movie might feature the lineup from the animated series: Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven, and Beast Boy.
The cartoon was hugely popular, running for five seasons and spawning a special, a movie, and a 2019 crossover. With its success, it’s no surprise that this lineup could be used in the movie.
