The Batman Director Matt Reeves Signs a New Deal with Warner Bros.
Warner Bros Discovery was a subject of controversy among DC fans for canceling several projects, including the almost finished Batgirl movie and the upcoming animated series Batman: Caped Crusader, many fans wondered which of the previously announced projects are still in development. Don’t worry, The Batman fans, Matt Reeves’ sequel is still a go, and according to Deadline, Matt Reeves will work on a lot of new movies for Warner Bros. since he just signed a new multi-year deal with the company.
Matt Reeves for previously best known for developing the second and the third installment of the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy. He was initially set to direct a Batman movie starring Ben Affleck, but after Affleck left the project, Reeves wrote a new script for the movie about a younger Batman, and Robert Pattinson was cast in the titular role. Reeves’ The Batman was released earlier this year and the movie received praise for performances, score, cinematography, direction, and action sequences, although some criticized its runtime of 2 hours and 55 minutes.
The Batman grossed $770 million worldwide, and the talks about the sequel started immediately after the movie’s release. The Hollywood Reporter recently reported that Mattson Tomlin is set to co-write the screenplay for the sequel with Reeves. Of course, Robert Pattinson is set to reprise the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, and Zoë Kravitz is expected to return as Selina Kyle/Catwoman.
The Batman 2 is in development, but it might still be years away. Still, we cannot wait for another adventure in Gotham City that Reeves is preparing for us.
