In April 2022, a sequel to The Batman was announced, with Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves returning. The Batman – Part II will also bring back cast members like Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.

Filming is set to begin in April 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios in England, with the movie now scheduled for release on October 2, 2026, after being pushed back from its original release date of October 2025.

The one-year delay sparked rumors that the movie might have been canceled, especially with James Gunn’s upcoming The Brave and the Bold movie potentially competing with it.

James Gunn recently cleared up rumors, confirming that The Batman Part II is definitely in development and he’s excited to see the script from Matt Reeves.

Industry insiders John Rocha and Jeff Sneider shared a positive update today: casting has begun for the film, and Reeves is looking to offer a lead role to a big actor who could play the main villain.

Filming could start in February 2025, although it might overlap with Robert Pattinson’s role in Christopher Nolan’s next movie, which is expected to be a small part.

A few months ago, fans started speculating about who the villain could be. The top contenders are Mr. Freeze, thanks to the movie’s winter setting, and the Court of Owls, based on some clues Reeves mentioned in interviews.

We’ve shared [the script] as we’ve been going along with DC, and they’re super excited. It’s going to dig into the epic story about deeper corruption and it goes into places [Bruce Wayne] couldn’t even anticipate in the first one.

The seeds of where this goes are all in the first movie & it expands in a way that will show you aspects of the character you never got to see. Batman is constantly battling these forces. But those forces can’t be entirely exorcised. So the next movie delves deeper into that.
