The Flash: New Synopsis Is Revealing The Return Of Black Lightning
We remember the days when every Arrowverse season would bring us a new crossover event. Unfortunately, due to covid and a bunch of other reasons, the season 2020/2021 was the first season without the crossover ever since Arrowverse officially became the shared universe in 2014.
Last season, The CW tried to cover up the lack of annual crossover event by bringing back David Ramsey, who played the role of John Diggle in all eight seasons of Arrow, for special guest appearances in every current Arrowverse show. But now, the need for the new crossover is bigger than ever.
Last summer, it was announced that the next crossover will be a 5-episode event called Armageddon. Unlike previous crossovers, this crossover will be held in only one show – The Flash – and it will take the first five episodes of its eighth season that’s set to start on November 16.
But, what’s a crossover without special guest stars? Don’t worry, you can expect a lot of them. Except for Batwoman, Atom, Ryan Choi, Damien Darhk, Reverse Flash, Green Arrow II, and Sentinel, the crossover will also feature Cress William’s Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, whose show ended last spring after four seasons.
At the end of the show, it was revealed that Jefferson Pierce retired and passed the mantle to his daughters Jennifer and Anissa, but now it looks like Armageddon will bring him back into the suit of Black Lightning. Williams will appear in the second part of the crossover (The Flash S08E02), for which you can see the official synopsis down below:
THE FLASH SEEKS HELP FROM BLACK LIGHTNING – Despero (guest star Tony Curran) warns The Flash (Grant Gustin) that great tragedies will befall the speedster and cause him to lose his mind. Once that happens, Armageddon will begin. Determined to prove Despero wrong, Barry doubles down on proving his innocence but a devastating revelation from Iris (Candice Patton) pushes him to the edge and sends him to seek counsel from Black Lightning (guest star Cress Williams). Menhaj Huda directed the episode written by Jonathan Butler & Gabriel Garza (#802). Original airdate 11/23/2021.
The Flash and Black Lightning team up was highly expected by the fans ever since they met on Crisis on Infinite Earths almost two years ago.
Armageddon crossover event will kick off on November 16 and it will take the first five episodes of The Flash Season 8. After that, the show will go on hiatus until March 9 when the season will continue with the other 18 episodes. It was confirmed that The Flash Season 8 will consist of 23 episodes in total.
