David Fincher’s ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’ is one of the most anticipated films of the holiday season. Written by Quentin Tarantino and starring Brad Pitt, the follow-up to ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ brings back the laid-back stuntman for a brand-new story.

Netflix is giving the film an unusually big theatrical push. The streamer has planned an exclusive 2-week IMAX run starting on November 25, before the film arrives on Netflix on December 23.

Now the full scope of that release is coming into focus. According to What’s on Netflix, the film’s official site lists 523 IMAX venues across roughly 55 countries and territories. The United States leads with 219 locations, just over 40% of the total. Japan is the second-largest market with 63 venues, while the UK has 24.

AMC accounts for most of the domestic rollout with 187 venues, while chains such as ODEON, UCI and Finnkino add more locations overseas. TheWrap reported that the film will play on about 550 IMAX screens worldwide. The release won’t reach everywhere, though. Regal and Cinemark have both declined to show the film on their IMAX screens during the Thanksgiving window.

Regal’s Brooks LeBoeuf explained that its premium screens are assigned partly based on how committed studios are to theatrical releases, and that shorter theatrical windows affect those decisions. An insider told TheWrap that Netflix expected the move, and that both chains would likely use those screens for the second week of ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’.

There are also gaps overseas. No venues are currently listed in Australia, France, India, South Korea or China, and UK chains Cineworld and Vue aren’t participating. A few venues will offer something extra. Tarantino’s own New Beverly Cinema will show the film in 35mm, and the Vista will do the same in December.

The TCL Chinese Theatre is also among the first venues selling tickets. For fans of both Fincher and Tarantino, these screenings may be the most special way to see the film. Pitt returns as Cliff Booth and also serves as a producer. Timothy Olyphant plays James Stacy, and the cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Scott Caan, Holt McCallany, and Peter Weller.

Deadline has reported that the film follows Booth as a Hollywood studio “fixer.” Fincher’s longtime collaborators Erik Messerschmidt and Kirk Baxter handled cinematography and editing. With a reported budget of around $200 million, it’s the most expensive film from either Fincher or Tarantino so far. Filming took place in California from late July 2025 through January 2026.

TheWrap noted that it’s still unclear whether Netflix might eventually drop the IMAX exclusivity and open the film more widely, as it did with ‘Glass Onion’. For now, the plan remains a limited premium run before the film reaches streaming.

With more than 500 locations worldwide, fans in many countries will be able to see Cliff Booth’s latest adventure on the biggest screens available. For Netflix, the release is another sign of its growing interest in theatrical events.
