The Future of ‘Gen V’ May Not Be Completely Over After Its Recent Cancellation, Eric Kripke Reveals
The future of Gen V may not be completely over, even after its recent cancelation.
According to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Eric Kripke has shared new details about what could happen next. The show, which is part of the world of The Boys, was canceled by Amazon after two seasons. But Kripke says there are still ideas being discussed behind the scenes.
He made it clear that the decision was not his. “I did not cancel the show. One, I don’t have the power to do that,” he said. He also added, “Two, I was fighting to keep the show, almost more than anybody else on Earth. So I’m as bummed as everybody else out there.”
Even though the series has ended, Kripke says the story might continue in a different way. He explained that the team is already thinking about new projects that could bring back some of the characters. “We’re internally brainstorming a couple different ideas,” he said. He also noted that these ideas could still include members of the original cast.
The show followed young superheroes at a special college, with Jaz Sinclair playing Marie Moreau, a character with powerful and dangerous abilities. Other cast members included Maddie Phillips, Derek Luh, Lizze Broadway, Asa Germann, and Keeya King. Their stories were closely tied to the events of The Boys.
Some of these characters are already set to return. Marie Moreau and Jordan Li are expected to appear in the final season of The Boys, which means their stories are not finished yet. Antony Starr will also continue as Homelander, connecting both shows even more.
Kripke also spoke about a possible storyline that was planned for a third season, but he did not reveal much. He said they still hope to use that idea in some way. He hinted that Marie’s journey is far from over and that learning to control her powers would have been a big part of it.
At the same time, the team is focused on another project called Vought Rising. This upcoming show will star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, and it is expected to arrive in 2027. It is currently the only confirmed spinoff still moving forward.
Kripke also explained why the show was canceled. He said it came down to business decisions. “It’s based on amount of viewers versus how expensive the show is to make, and does it make business sense for them, ultimately?” he shared.
After the news broke, Jaz Sinclair reacted on social media. She thanked fans and showed appreciation for the experience, saying she was grateful for the support.
Even though the cancelation disappointed many fans, it looks like the story is not fully done yet. Some characters could return in new ways, and the world of The Boys is still growing.
This is not the end for Gen V. It feels like the creators still care about the story and want to continue it somehow. Bringing characters into other shows could actually work well if done right. But fans will want clear answers, not just small cameos. What do you think about this? Should Gen V come back in a new form, or is it better to move on? Share your thoughts in the comments.
