Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’ has never been afraid to think big, and its next chapter is shaping up to be its most ambitious yet. The Netflix crime series first arrived in March 2024, before its second season pushed beyond the English countryside and into the Italian lakes, bringing the Italian mafia into Eddie Horniman’s world. Season 2 premiered on September 3 with a stacked roster of new faces, including Hugh Bonneville, Michele Morrone, Maya Jama and boxer Chris Eubank Jr.

Netflix clearly had confidence in the show. The streamer renewed the series on August 24, just 9 days before Season 2 even debuted, confirming another 8-episode run with Ritchie returning to direct and co-write alongside Matthew Read. At the time, Variety reported that scripts hadn’t been finalized and no new casting had been locked, despite rumors linking Meghan Markle to the show.

Now, fans have their first real glimpse of what’s next. Netflix has released a first-look image from ‘The Gentlemen’ Season 3, showing Theo James’ Eddie and Kaya Scodelario’s Susie seated inside a lavish desert tent, surrounded by rich rugs, lanterns and a teapot, with towering sand dunes stretching out behind them. The image comes from production in Morocco, where the new season has been filming.

Netflix confirmed on October 23 that Season 3 is officially in production in the UK and Morocco. Cameras actually began rolling on September 13 in Rabat, the Moroccan capital, with the desert region of Erfoud also being used for the season’s Middle East-set material.

The setting makes perfect sense once you know the story. According to Netflix’s official logline, Eddie and Susie embark on their most audacious project yet, building a casino in the Middle East, though danger lurks around every corner. The synopsis also teases whether the Duke’s unchecked ambition has finally gone too far.

Ritchie himself has made clear that the show is only getting bigger. “The ambition of ‘The Gentlemen’ has accelerated, the world has expanded, and the consequences carry weight,” the creator said in a statement shared with Variety, adding that a third season felt inevitable and that he’s looking forward to pushing its boundaries further.

Netflix also unveiled a wave of new cast members joining James and Scodelario. Robert Carlyle, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Dexter Fletcher, Bruna Marquezine, Ed Speleers, Saffron Burrows and Bugzy Malone have all signed on for the new season.

The casting has delighted fans for another reason. Wood and Bloom are reuniting on screen ahead of Wood’s return to Middle-earth in Andy Serkis’ ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’, giving the series an unexpected ‘Lord of the Rings’ reunion.

The Moroccan shoot reportedly faced a few challenges. What’s on Netflix reported that the sets flooded toward the end of the Morocco leg of filming, though Netflix hasn’t addressed the issue and it doesn’t appear to have derailed the schedule.

The quick turnaround is still notable. Netflix greenlit the season unusually early, and production started far sooner than many fans expected. Netflix hasn’t announced a premiere date or release window yet. For context, Season 2 took around 18 months to go from cameras rolling to release, which suggests fans may need to be patient.

Some outlets are predicting a late 2027 premiere, while others think the new episodes may not arrive until 2028. Until then, both previous seasons are streaming on Netflix, giving fans plenty of time to catch up before Eddie’s next big gamble.
