Believe it or not, One Piece is so popular that the characters featured in Eiichiro Oda’s ongoing manga classic have gotten their own life-size statues in Kumamoto, Japan. Currently, there are 10 statues of 10 different characters scattered around town, with a high possibility of more statues appearing in the future. Kumamoto wasn’t chosen by accident; namely, the town is actually the birthplace of Eiichiro Oda and they obviously thought that the statues would be a great way of honoring Oda and his work. The project’s official name is ONE PIECE Kumamoto Revival Project.

In this article, we are going to tell you about the 10 statues and where in Kumamoto they are located. Kumamoto is not a mainstream tourist destination, but if you’re a One Piece fan, it is a place you must visit and we are going to help you find the statues you’ll be looking for.

1. Monkey D. Luffy

Unveiled in November 2018. Monkey D. Luffy, known by the nickname “Luffy Straw Hat” or simply “Straw Hat”, is the main protagonist of the manga and anime One Piece. Unveiled on December 7, 2019. Sanji, born Vinsmoke Sanji and nicknamed the “Black Bed”, is the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates, the fifth member of the crew and the fourth to join, doing so at the end of the arch of Baratie. He is also the fourth son of the Vinsmoke family, making him the prince of the Germanic Kingdom, although he has twice relinquished that title.

After leaving Vinsmoke as a child, he crossed paths with Zeff and decided to open the Baratie restaurant, where he worked as a chef until Luffy arrived, inviting him. to join the crew. His dream is to find the legendary treasure for a cook, All Blue, which is where East Blue, West Blue, North Blue, and South Blue converge. 3. Usopp

Unveiled on December 8, 2019. Usopp is the Straw Hat Pirates shooter. He is the fourth member of the crew and the third to join, at the end of Kuro’s bow. Despite leaving the crew during the Water 7 arc due to disagreements with his captain, he rejoined them after apologizing at the end of the bow after Enies Lobby.

Usopp was born and spent his childhood in the Village of Syrup, where he was the captain of the Usopp Company and a great friend of the Kaya. Originally scheduled for March 28, 2020, but unveiled on November 7, 2020. Tony Tony Chopper, also known as “The Sugar Cotton Lover”, is the Doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates. He is the sixth member of the crew and the fifth to join Luffy, doing so at the end of Drum’s bow, as well as the youngest on the ship. He was temporarily forced to join Foxy’s Pirates during the Davy Back Fight, but was quickly recovered by the Straw Hat.

Chopper is a reindeer that ate the Hito Hito no Mi, a devil’s fruit that allows him to become a human or a hybrid. He comes from Drum Island and learned medicine from his two mentors, Dr. Hiruluk and Dr. Kureha. His dream is to become a doctor capable of curing any disease and travel all over the world in order to achieve this.

5. Brook

Transport: Take either the K2-4, K2-5, M3-1, or M3-2 from the Sakuramachi Bus Terminal and get off at the Mifunemachi Kyoryu Hakubutsukan (Dinosaur Museum) bus stop. The park is a 1 min walk from here

Originally scheduled for March 29, 2020, but unveiled on November 8, 2020. Brook is the musician for the Straw Hat Pirates. He is the ninth crew member and the eighth to join, making it to the end of the Thriller Bark bow. Brook ate the Yomi Yomi no Mi, which allowed him to return to life after death for the first time. Later, he learned to use the powers of the fruit more deeply, being able to control his own soul and that of others at will. Her dream is to reunite with her old friend, the Raboon Whale, who is on Reverse Mountain with Crocus.

He was a member of the Rumbar Pirates until he died with the rest of his comrades and revived with the powers of his devil fruit. However, due to the length of time, it took her soul to find her body, she revived as a skeleton with only her afro hair intact. Unveiled on January 22, 2022. Roronoa Zoro, also known as “Pirate Hunter” Zoro, is a pirate and a former bounty hunter. He was the first member to join the Straw Hat Pirates and is considered the worst threat and most dangerous member after Luffy. His reputation as a good swordsman and his great strength, as well as Luffy’s behavior, often confuse him with the captain of the crew. He is one of the three best fighters in the crew, along with Luffy and Sanji, and his dream is to become the best swordsman in the world.

7. Franky

Unveiled on November 21, 2020. Franky is the ax master of the Straw Hat Pirates. He is the eighth member of the crew and the seventh to join them, making it to the end of the bow behind Enies Lobby. Born “Cutty Flam”, he went on to use the name “Franky” when the Iceburg asked him to hide his true identity. He is originally from South Blue but was abandoned by his family when he was four years old and somehow came to Water 7.

There he became an apprentice to the legendary shipbuilder Tom, a member of Tom’s Workers. until a fatal accident destroyed much of his body and rebuilt him into a cyborg. After returning to Water 7, he recruited the city’s minions and founded the Franky Family, a group of ship dismantlers.

8. Nico Robin

Unveiled on October 9, 2021. Nico Robin, known since she was a child as the “Devil’s Girl” and later as the “Light of the Revolution”, is the archaeologist for the Straw Hat Pirates. He is the seventh member of the crew and the sixth to join, doing so at the end of the Alabasta bow. She left the crew temporarily during the Water 7 bow to save her comrades, but was rescued and reinstated on the ship at the end of the Enies Lobby bow.

Unveiled on July 31, 2021. Nami, nicknamed “Cat Thief”, is a pirate and the officer in the Straw Hat Pirates. She was the third member of the crew and the second to join, during the Orange Town arc. She is Nojiko’s adopted sister after being orphaned at an early age and adopted by Bell-mère. She was a member of the Pirates of Arlong and initially joined the Straw Hat Pirates to steal them and thus be able to buy her village.

During the Baratie’s bow, she betrayed and temporarily abandoned the crew, but returned to stay at the end of the Arlong Park bow, after her past and true intentions were revealed. Her dream is to draw a map of the whole world.
