The Mandalorian, a first-ever live-action Star Wars series is set to return with its third season in February 2023, as Lucasfilm recently announced at the Star Wars Celebration event. With all the news and info provided, Katee Sackhoff was also confirmed to return for the upcoming third season as Bo-Katan Kryze.

Like Ahsoka, Bo-Katan was also a character who debuted in an animated form. She had her first appearance in the A Friend in Need episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series in 2012. Katee Sackhoff voiced the character in the series, and in November 2020 she debuted as the live-action version of the character in the second season of The Mandalorian.

During the recent Star Wars Celebration event, at which the series was confirmed to return in February 2023, Sackhoff was asked about her role in the series, and here’s how she responded:

“Her head is still attached to her body so that’s a good thing. I’ve said this before, my dad raised me on science fiction. He raised me on strong characters. When I was little, you didn’t have a lot of strong female characters to choose from. We had Sigourney and Linda and Lucy Lawless but I wanted to be Bruce Willis. I wanted to save a building. To be able to play the women that I have been able to play throughout my career has been such a gift and strong women keep presenting themselves to me. These guys at the end of the table are responsible for creating so many strong characters. The fact that they’re women, they’re just women. To be able to start with her 10 years ago and the fact that they trusted me to take her into live-action, I’m still pinching myself. The fact that you guys love her, flaws and all, means the world. Thank you. You’re in for a treat.” — Katee Sackhoff at Star Wars Celebration Event (via comicbook.com)

The Mandalorian is starring Pedro Pascal in the titular role, and Grogu, commonly known as Baby Yoda, will also return. Giancarlo Esposito and Carl Weathers will also both return as Moff Gideon and Greef Karga, respectively. Weathers will also direct one of the episodes of the season. The Mandalorian Season 3 is set to drop on Disney+ in February 2023.
