‘The Suicide Squad’ Star Daniela Melchior Shares a Peek at Her Workout Routine, and Her Dog Steals the Show
Daniela Melchior has become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand Portuguese exports. Born in Almada, Portugal, in 1996, the actress started out in telenovelas like ‘Mulheres’ and ‘Ouro Verde’ before making the leap to international film.
Her big break came courtesy of James Gunn, who cast her as Cleo Cazo, aka Ratcatcher 2, in 2021’s ‘The Suicide Squad’. Gunn later reportedly wrote the character of Ura in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ specifically for her, and Melchior has kept fans engaged on Instagram, where she has around 1 million followers.
Her latest posts offer a more personal look at how she stays ready for action-heavy roles. In new content shared on Instagram and reposted on X on October 5, Melchior gave fans a glimpse of a home workout session, and an unexpected co-star made the moment even better.
In the workout clip, Melchior is seen exercising on a mat in a home gym lined with dumbbells and weight plates. Lying right beside her is her dog, calmly keeping her company as she works through her routine.
It’s a relatable, down-to-earth snapshot that fans clearly enjoyed. Another image in the post shows a more glamorous side. Melchior poses in a black top in a dimly lit restaurant setting, with her arms raised and her dark hair pulled back.
Staying in shape isn’t new for the actress. To prepare for ‘The Suicide Squad’, Melchior made a point of getting in shape for the physically demanding role. That dedication has served her well as her résumé has grown more action-packed. She went on to play Isabel in ‘Fast X’ and co-starred opposite Jake Gyllenhaal as Ellie in Amazon MGM’s ‘Road House’ reimagining.
Fans have seen her share fitness moments before. Back in 2024, she posted a set of workout photos while bidding farewell to Lisbon. Melchior’s career has been moving quickly. In August 2025, she starred in the mystery thriller ‘American Sweatshop’, though critics felt she was underused in the film.
She then joined the comedy horror ‘Anaconda’, a remake of the 1997 film, playing Ana Almeida. Released on December 25, 2025, the movie also starred Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton and Selton Mello.
She has also completed work on Peter Farrelly’s action comedy ‘Balls Up’, playing Isabella Costa. Her upcoming slate includes ‘Wildfire’, in which she plays Carmen. Her next big release arrives just in time for the holidays. Melchior joined David Harbour and Kristen Bell in Universal and 87North’s ‘Violent Night 2’, which hits theaters on December 4, 2026.

Tommy Wirkola returns to direct from a script by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, who wrote the first film. The sequel was shot in Winnipeg and reportedly has a western influence, drawing inspiration from 1947’s ‘Miracle on 34th Street’. With an action-comedy sequel on the way, Melchior’s workout routine looks like it’s paying off. And judging by her latest post, her loyal four-legged gym buddy isn’t going anywhere.
