Shocking news for the fans of the Netflix original series The Witcher has just arrived when the lead star Henry Cavill announced on Instagram that he will stop playing Geralt of Rivia after Season 3 which is set to premiere next Summer.

Henry Cavill started playing Geralt of Rivia in December 2019 when The Witcher first premiered on Netflix. He reprised the role in Season 2, which premiered in December 2021. The third season has already wrapped production and it’s set to premiere next Summer. Unfortunately, the third season will be the last one we’ll see with Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.

Cavill also revealed that Liam Hemsworth will replace him in Season 4 of the series, which probably won’t be much of a consolation considering that Cavill was very loved as Geralt. On the other hand, DC fans will probably have something to look forward to because Cavill has left the role of Geralt for the sake of his upcoming projects at DC.

Cavill recently returned to the role of Superman for the first time since 2017’s Justice League in the post-credit scene of Black Adam. Shortly after, he revealed that he will finally continue to play Superman, and looks like the fans of The Witcher will now need to make peace that he won’t be Geralt again due to scheduling conflicts.
