Marvel isn’t joking this year at all. Three new movies set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are in front of us, and while the fans are focusing their anticipation on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is a bit more than a month away, we couldn’t have overlooked how Marvel still didn’t reveal any official footage for Thor: Love and Thunder, which is set to be released in July.
And while we’re still waiting for the official trailer, today we got a new look at Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder thanks to Hallmark. It’s just a Christmas tree ornament featuring Hemsworth’s character, not Marvel’s official reveal, but at least now we can see how Thor’s outfit will look in the upcoming movie, and it looks powerful.
Thor: Love and Thunder was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, and it will make Thor the first Marvel hero which will get his fourth standalone movie. Chris Hemsworth will return as the titular character, and Jane Foster will return to play Jane Foster. After not returning for Thor: Ragnarok, Portman’s character is now set to become the Mighty Thor. Tessa Thompson will also return as Valkyrie, and The Dark Knight star Christian Bale will play the villain Gorr, The God Butcher.
Taika Waititi, director of Thor: Ragnarok returns as a co-writer and director on the upcoming fourth installment of the Thor saga. It’s not known if this will be Hemsworth’s last movie as the God of Thunder, but the movie will surely have a lot of impact on the future of the MCU, particularly Guardians of the Galaxy, who will show up in this movie before their closure in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum, and Vin Diesel, Thor: Love and Thunder will open in theaters on July July 8, 2022.
