Officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Thor: Love and Thunder makes Thor the first Marvel character that received his fourth standalone movie. Chris Hemsworth returns as the titular character, while Tessa Thompson and Taika Waititi are both reprising their roles from Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame as Valkyrie and Korg, respectively.

Love and Thunder will also see the comeback of Natalie Portman and Jaimie Alexander as Jane Foster and Lady Sif. Both of them were absent from Thor: Ragnarok after appearing in the first two Thor movies, and Alexander reprised the role in the Disney+ series Loki last year. Portman will return as Jane Foster, and the movie will follow a known comic book storyline in which Jane will wield Mjolnir, becoming Mighty Thor.

Christian Bale, Academy Award-winning actor and the star of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy is making a return to the superhero genre as the villain Gorr, the God Butcher. Guardians of the Galaxy will also appear in this movie before continuing their MCU adventure in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Love and Thunder also stars Russell Crowe, Matt Damon, Sam Neill, Luke Hemsworth, and Melissa McCarthy.

Written and directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere in theaters on July 8, 2022. Tickets are available now!
