‘Titan Quest II’ Brings Back Mythical Action With a Fresh Take and No Microtransactions

Titan Quest 2 is officially happening, and it’s on its way. The news came from the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, where the legendary action RPG made a big comeback announcement.

This time, it’s getting a whole new story, fresh graphics, and more of that classic monster-fighting gameplay fans love.

The game is being made by Grimlore Games, and one of the key people behind it, lead systems designer Balint Marczin, shared some details during the reveal.

He described the game as a “Diablo-esque” experience, meaning fast-paced action, lots of loot, and tons of customization. Like the first game, it takes place in a world inspired by ancient Greek mythology. You’ll run into famous gods and creatures, some returning from the 2006 original and others brand new for this sequel.

This time, the main enemy is Nemesis, the Goddess of Retribution. She’s not doing so well mentally and is messing with fate itself. That includes throwing you, a simple warrior, into a punishment you didn’t ask for. Your job is to fight back, get stronger, and prove yourself worthy to the gods.

Titan Quest 2 won’t use a standard class system. Instead, you get to pick two “masteries,” which are kind of like skill trees. Mixing two of them creates a brand-new style of character, and how you balance their powers and weaknesses will help you create your own playstyle.

You’ll also be able to tweak and upgrade your abilities even more as you level up. This makes every build feel different and personal.

A lot of people will be glad to know that the game won’t have any microtransactions. But the developers do plan to release more traditional DLCs later on, which could add new areas, enemies, and masteries once the full game is out.

Right now, there’s no exact date for when it will enter early access on Steam, but it’s planned for sometime this summer. The full release doesn’t have a date yet either, but Titan Quest 2 is expected to come out on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X later on. If you’re interested, it might be a good idea to add it to your Steam wishlist to keep up with news as it drops.
