Sea of Remnants, a Free-to-Play Ocean RPG, Sets Sail for PS5, PC, and Mobile in 2026

NetEase Games and Joker Studio have officially announced their upcoming game Sea of Remnants, a free-to-play ocean adventure RPG set to release in 2026. The announcement came during the recent PlayStation State of Play event and has already started building excitement among fans of open-world and role-playing games.
The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Steam, iOS, and Android, and promises a big, story-rich world filled with choices, sea battles, and strange characters.
Players will take on the role of a sailor who looks like a puppet and has no memory of their past. As the story unfolds, you’ll travel with a mysterious girl across the sea, exploring unknown islands and a strange city called Orbtopia that’s slowly revealing its secrets.
In Sea of Remnants, players can expect a mix of real-time and turn-based gameplay. Sea battles will happen in real time, letting you steer your ship and fight off enemy fleets or monsters. When you land on islands, you’ll fight in turn-based combat with your crew.
The game features more than 300 characters, and every choice you make can change how factions and people react to you.
You’ll also be able to build a team of allies called “puppetfolk,” each with unique skills. Customizing your ship and training your crew will be key to surviving both the battles and the political mess in the game’s world.
There’s a focus on decision-making, and your choices will have a real impact on what happens next. Cities and power structures may shift, depending on how you play.
According to NetEase and Joker Studio, even small actions can lead to big changes. “Sea of Remnants places the world’s fate directly in the players’ hands,” said Sylar Pan, Product Lead at Joker Studio. “With more than 300 characters to interact with—whether as allies, enemies, or something in between—every action can trigger surprising and far-reaching consequences. We’re excited to see the stories players will create when they finally set sail.”
Outside of battles and exploration, the game also offers relaxing activities at the port city, including fishing, cooking hotpot, and playing mahjong. These moments are meant to let players unwind and interact more with the people in Orbtopia.
