Tom Holland and Zendaya Give the ‘Spider-Man’ Franchise Its Sweetest Sendoff Yet

The ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ press tour has been running at full speed for weeks, and it has turned into something of a victory lap for its two lead stars. The married couple’s whirlwind promotional schedule has taken them everywhere from a fan event in Mexico City to stops across the globe, all building toward the film’s theatrical release. Along the way, fans have been documenting every glance, every hand hold, and every off script moment between the two.

That tour made its latest stop in London on Wednesday, where the cast gathered for the film’s UK premiere at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, just two days ahead of the movie’s official theatrical release. Holland’s own ties to London gave the stop a bit of extra meaning, playing almost like a hometown premiere for the actor.

It was there that the couple gave fans their biggest public moment of the tour so far. A clip shared by the account Cosmic Marvel captured Tom Holland and Zendaya sharing a kiss on the red carpet, with the fan video racking up well over 160,000 views within hours of being posted. The two co-stars, who are also real-life spouses, posed together for photographers throughout the evening at the premiere.

The London carpet delivered more than just a moment between the leads. Co-star Marisa Tomei, who plays Aunt May Parker, was also seen affectionately holding Tom’s face during photos on the carpet, adding another warm moment to the night. The film brings Holland back as the web slinger alongside a stacked cast including Zendaya, Sadie Sink in a still undisclosed role, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando as Scorpion, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner.

This is far from the first time the pair has given fans a moment to swoon over during this cycle. Just over a week earlier, the couple traveled to Mexico City for a ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ photocall, where a fan caught Holland and Zendaya trading a playful air kiss across director Destin Daniel Cretton during a fan event at an amusement park. That stop came only days after their other major collaboration, Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey,’ had already hit theaters worldwide, meaning the two have effectively been juggling two press tours at once.

Critics have started weighing in on the film itself, and the chemistry fans keep catching on camera seems to be translating to the screen. One review highlighted just how well Holland and Zendaya, now married in real life, still manage that chemistry even in a plot designed to keep their characters at a distance. The film picks up four years after the ending of the previous chapter, with Peter Parker now known to the world only as Spider-Man after his identity and history with those closest to him were erased.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ marks the fourth Spider-Man film to bring Holland and Zendaya together since they first met on the set of 2017’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming,’ and it hits theaters on July 31. With the London kiss now circulating widely and the film’s wide release just days away, it feels like the perfect moment to ask fans directly, has any Spider-Man press tour ever felt this personal, and what did you make of Tom and Zendaya stealing the spotlight from Peter Parker himself?
