‘Triptych’ Ending Explained: Who Is the Sister’s Real Mother?
Welcome to the Ending Explained for Triptych, a new thriller that is arriving this week on Netflix. The series comes straight from Mexico and claims to be based on real-life events. The inspiration for the show remains a secret. Still, some real-life cases of siblings separated at birth feel very similar to the situation depicted on the show. The series does a good job of creating intrigue around the main characters’ particular situations. By the end of the show, the answers to the mystery are given, but they might not be particularly satisfying for everyone.
The series displays some very solid production values, and then it even goes beyond the standard in some sections with the use of great camera work and lighting. However, the writing stumbles, especially at the end, when many important details are glossed over, and very important story fragments are seen off-screen. The tone also becomes quite solemn and feels ridiculous at times, purging all sense of tension from many scenes.
The following paragraphs contain spoilers for Triptych. Read at your own risk.
Who Are The Sisters Involved In The Experiment?
The story of Triptych introduces us to Rebecca, a forensic officer working for the Mexico City Police. Rebecca is quite talented, and she is very good at her job. However, she is also having quite a number of issues on her own. She is a recovered alcoholic, and she is in a romantic relationship with another member of the police force, Detective Humberto Solana, a married man with kids. Rebecca is all alone, and her work only distracts her so much. It seems she could fall into alcohol at any moment once again.
One day, she receives a call from a crime scene. She arrives at the scene and gets ready to inspect the surrounding area. However, something is off about this particular crime scene. Everyone is looking at her in some weird way as she approaches the victim’s body. When she looks at the body, she sees herself. Not literally, but the person in front of her looks exactly like her. The victim wakes up; she is still alive, and when she looks at Rebecca, she recognizes her. What is happening?

Everything becomes even more peculiar when other characters start to realize that Rebecca looks like the victim. Humberto becomes quite mysterious and cryptic, and he is clearly hiding something from Rebecca. The victim is identified as Aleida, the president of a very important recruiting company in the city. Aleida’s fame makes it even stranger that Rebecca never saw her in the news or in magazines, where Aleida seems to have a heavy presence. Aleida disappears from the hospital, and Humberto informs Rebecca that she died at night.
Rebecca even confronts her mother about her origins. There is definitely something happening. Rebecca’s mother then reveals that Rebecca is actually adopted and that she was given to her when she was a baby. As Rebecca investigates, she discovers another sister named Tamara. Together, they start searching and discovering that they might be part of a strange scientific experiment. One that involves not only them but also everyone they know.
Who Is The Sister’s Real Mother?
Twins and triplets will tell you that they have a special connection and that they can feel what the others feel even when long distances separate them. As Tamara and Rebecca keep discovering their past, they realize that the three of them had a mental break almost on the same date on Christmas. Aleida was taken into a psychiatric ward by a doctor named Julia Batiz. This woman would be the key to solving the mystery of the sister’s origin.
What began as just a simple search for their origins becomes the story of a mad scientist doing the immoral to achieve the data she wants. Doctor Batiz is the mastermind behind all of this. She has a network of henchmen that do her bidding and are willing to die for her. It is never explained why they are so loyal and willing to do so many immoral things, but they do. Tamara and Rebecca are captured, and the doctor reveals the truth to them. The sisters are part of an experiment that aims to resolve the question of how behavior is set in an individual.

Is a person’s behavior defined by their genetics or by their surroundings? Having three people, who basically share the same DNA, was the perfect way to do an experiment that would solve the question. Aleida, Rebecca, and Tamara might look the same, but they lived different lives, making them different people, but there are also clear characteristics they share among themselves. Doctor Batiz also reveals that she is the sisters’ real mother and that she was willing to give birth to them only to use them in this twisted experiment.
Aleida is revealed to be alive and helps her sisters escape the doctor’s evil lair. On the road, they meet Eugenio, Aleida’s husband, who killed Humberto on the road. Humberto was revealed to be one of Batiz’s monitors for the experiment, and he even pushed Rebecca into becoming an alcoholic. The sisters return to their normal lives with their families, and Tamara, who doesn’t have one, is included in Aleida’s, as she pretended to be Aleida for a while. It is revealed that the sisters left their mother, Doctor Baliz, trapped inside her secret evil lair and kept their mouths shut about her location when asked by the police.
