Several crew members from the hit Paramount+ series Tulsa King were unexpectedly told they would not be returning for Season 4, just as production was set to resume.

According to Deadline, 26 members of the show’s 600-strong crew received notice that they were being replaced, covering roles in stunts, camera work, sound, hair, photography, rigging, transportation, and more.

Many of those affected had assumed they would continue on the series after a two-year renewal was confirmed following Sylvester Stallone’s new deal in 2024.

Among them was Emmy-nominated stunt coordinator Freddie Poole, who also served as Stallone’s stunt double. Poole had worked with the actor for 14 years. “I feel really bad for the Atlanta film community with just the way things went down,” he said, explaining that he was offered a reduced role as a photo double, which he declined.

“I’ve been in this business for 30 years and I’ve been on shows for multiple seasons, and I’ve never seen this kind of turnover.”

Chad Gregory, Stallone’s stand-in for all three previous seasons, found out through a friend that he would not be returning. His former position, previously paying $250 a day, is now posted at $400 a day. Gregory commented, “Look, I get it. Business is business. I’m sure there will be some who see this and say I need to stiffen up. That’s fine. You’re entitled to your opinion.”

Paramount and 101 Studios have not commented publicly, but sources noted that crew changes from season to season are standard in the industry. Those not returning were reportedly not under active contracts, and budget cuts were not cited as a reason for the turnover.

The shake-up comes alongside other major changes for Tulsa King’s fourth season. Terence Winter is returning as executive producer and head writer, while previous showrunner Dave Erickson is stepping down.

Additionally, Taylor Sheridan recently announced that he will be leaving Paramount for a five-year deal with NBCUniversal, starting in 2029. Paramount itself has also announced significant layoffs, affecting around 1,000 U.S.-based employees in the first round, with a second round expected to follow.
