Venom vs Thanos: Who Would Win?
Have you ever thought about what would happen if Thanos clashed with a Symbiote? Sure, Thanos seems to be the obvious winner, but the whole Symbiote race is extremely enduring and is one of the most resilient races in Marvel’s universe. In this article, we are going to analyze what would happen in a direct fight between Thanos, the Mad Titan, and Venom, the most famous Symbiote.
Venom would not be able to defeat Thanos, except in very improbable, special circumstances where Thanos would have nothing and Venom would simply fight him for millennia. Otherwise, Thanos is simply too powerful for Venom and would defeat him with relative ease.
Venom and his powers
Venom is an antihero and supervillain who appears in comics published by the American publisher Marvel Comics. The character is a sentient symbiote extraterrestrial with an amorphous, semi-liquid form, that survives by bonding with a host, usually human.
Symbiotic abilities
Despite requiring a live host to survive, the Venom symbiote has proven itself adept at defending itself independent of a host. The symbiote is capable of shapeshifting abilities, including the ability to form spikes or expand their size, as well as mimic the appearance of other humanoids after it has obtained a host.
Furthermore, the organism can use its shape-shifting abilities to hide itself by altering its coloration or by becoming completely invisible. It also contains a small “dimensional opening”, allowing your hosts to transport items without adding mass to the costume.
The symbiote also displays telepathic abilities, primarily when it needs to communicate with its host. Due to its contact with Spider-Man, the symbiote grants all subsequent hosts the powers of that hero and cannot be detected by his spider-sense.
As Spider-Man’s fighting style depends in part on his spider-sense, his effectiveness was hampered when he faced Eddie Brock. Retaining memory of him from the time he was linked to Spider-Man, Venom is also capable of producing webs similar to Spider-Man’s own variety created by himself.
Physical abilities
The symbiote greatly enhances the physical strength of those with whom it bonds. His hosts experience much larger size and musculature. The symbiote shows non-human teeth, which are very sharp and commonly protrude a long tongue from its mouth. Venom is described as physically much larger than Spider-Man, as well as having more brute strength.
Weaknesses and immunity
Venom exhibits some immunities to the supernatural powers of others such as the Ghost Rider’s Gaze of Penance or Spider-Man’s extra-sensing arachnid sense. The Venom symbiote is vulnerable to fire and sonic waves, causing great pain and exhaustion if kept sufficiently exposed.
He can detect and track all of his Symbiote descendants except Carnage, who learned to block this ability shortly after teaming up with Cletus Kasady and confronting Venom / Eddie Brock for the first time.
Thanos and his powers
Thanos is a fictional comic book character created by Jim Starlin (text and drawings) and published by Marvel Comics. He debuted in The Invincible Iron Man # 55 comic book. The character’s name derives from Thanatos, the personification of Death in Greek mythology. He is the most powerful of the Eternals species.
Thanos has superhuman physical abilities and intelligence and is immune to any type of disease; his aging is blocked upon reaching adulthood and has accelerated healing processes.
Energy manipulation
Among his main powers is that of generating and manipulating cosmic energy at will, which he uses to further increase his strength or releasing it in another form.
He also possesses limited ability to manipulate matter, and is also able to use a psychic technique called Time Mind Sync Warp, once used against Drax the Destroyer, which brings the victim’s mind into a dimension of terror that causes blackout or death.
Physical abilities and combat skills
Through very advanced cybernetic grafts he has increased his physical prowess to far exceed that of the strongest of the Eternals. He is also an expert in hand-to-hand combat and in the mystical arts to the point of being able to curse Deadpool in a similar way to what Death did to Thanos himself by banishing him from the realm of his beloved.
Equipment
Thanos often uses a special techno-mystical throne, with which he possesses a powerful telepathic bond, thanks to which he is able to generate impenetrable energy barriers, teleport wherever he wants, and fly at super-luminal speeds.
He also has a very advanced time machine, which he called Time Probe. He even built the prototype of the special Stasis Rifle, a weapon capable of firing a single but powerful shot that locks the target inside an impenetrable cube of energy inside which it lies in a state of stasis, and has its service an army of state-of-the-art drones with various functions.
Venom vs Thanos: Who would win?
And now for the most important and interesting section of our article – the analysis. Here, we are going to use what we have found out about these two characters and analyze how all these facts would (or would not) help them in a fight against each other. Let us continue.
This clash might seem complex, but it’s actually a pretty straightforward clash. Namely, despite all of his powers, Venom can’t really do much against Thanos, simply because Thanos is on a different level of power. Venom is effective against humans and human superheroes, but Thanos is simply too powerful for him.
This is true even if Thanos would approach the fight without any weapons whatsoever. Thanos is an Eternal and, as such, has access to powers that are unimaginable to Venom, even if he is among the strongest symbiotes. Venom’s only chance would be to fight Thanos until the end of the world, i.e., for millions of years, in a closed environment where Thanos wouldn’t be able to do much and would ultimately weaken and die of natural causes.
Since the latter scenario is highly improbable, it’s absolutely clear that Thanos would take this one in basically 9.99 times out of 10. Thanos’ powers are almost on a godly scale, while Venom is just a cool and somewhat overpowered alien.
