Vincent D’Onofrio Hints at ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 — Says Plans Are in Place

Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again is moving forward with its second season, and there’s already a lot going on behind the scenes. The first season brought back some of the same energy from the old Netflix series, and fans were happy to see familiar faces like Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk.
Deborah Ann Woll returned as Karen Page, and Elden Henson came back as Foggy Nelson. There were some new characters too, helping connect the Netflix shows (known as the Defenderverse) with the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The first season was supposed to be 18 episodes long, but that plan changed. Instead, Marvel decided to break it up into two parts. The second season is now confirmed and will premiere in March 2026 with eight episodes. Marvel says this season will be part of Phase Six of the MCU.
Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is also getting his own special. That project was developed during filming for Daredevil: Born Again and will come out in 2026 under the Marvel Studios “Special Presentations” label.
Most of the core cast is returning. Cox is back as Daredevil, and D’Onofrio continues his role as Fisk, who’s now the mayor of New York. Bernthal returns as Frank Castle. Margarita Levieva plays Heather Glenn, one of Matt’s former love interests, and Ayelet Zurer returns as Vanessa Fisk.
One big surprise is Foggy Nelson’s return. His character was killed off in the first season, but Marvel’s Sana Amanat said they couldn’t imagine a season without him. “We could not see a Daredevil season without [Henson] in some regard,” she explained. This got fans thinking about how that could be possible.
There’s a 2006 comic storyline The Secret Life of Foggy Nelson where Foggy fakes his death and ends up in witness protection. Some fans think the show might follow that plot. Others point out that in the Netflix shows, characters have come back from the dead before. But directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead tried to keep expectations grounded. “Dying very often does mean that you’re actually dead,” they said.
Filming for season two started in February 2025. It’s being shot in New York City, with scenes already filmed at Josie’s Bar in Brooklyn and in places like Chelsea. The working title for production is Out the Kitchen 2.
Filming is expected to wrap up by July 2025. Directors for the new season include Benson and Moorhead, Solvan Naim, Iain B. MacDonald, and Angela Barnes. Hillary Fyfe Spera and Jeffrey Waldron are back as cinematographers, continuing the look and feel from the first season.
Vincent D’Onofrio also gave fans something more to talk about. In an interview with Awards Buzz, he mentioned that the team already has ideas for a third season. But whether it happens or not depends on how well season two does.
“If they allow us to continue, we have a plan,” D’Onofrio said. “It’s up to the fans, to watch, to get excited. It’s up to us to please them and get the story right, but it’s all, yeah I mean we’re looking forward in a big way.”
So if people want to see more of Daredevil and Kingpin after season two, they’ll have to tune in and support the show. Marvel has laid the groundwork, now it’s in the fans’ hands.
