Now Vincent D’Onofrio himself has cleared up exactly how much time passes before the story picks back up. The actor confirmed that ‘Daredevil Born Again’ Season 3 begins just six months after the Season 2 finale, putting Fisk’s exile and Murdock’s imprisonment on a tight, immediate timeline rather than the multi year jumps some fans expected.
“There’s a lot of action in season 3 and we picked up literally only six months after the second season ends. So, he went to prison, I got exiled somewhere,” D’Onofrio said, laying out exactly where both characters stand as the new episodes begin.
That timeline lines up with everything else coming out of production. D’Onofrio confirmed on X that filming had officially wrapped on July 21, 2026, writing “That’s a wrap. 3rd Season Daredevil Born again.” The shoot took roughly four months in New York, and its smooth, on schedule completion stands in contrast to the strike disrupted first season, which underwent major overhauls and writer changes midway through filming.

D’Onofrio has also been teasing what audiences can expect once the new season lands. Speaking to hosts Coy Jandreau and Greg Alba, the actor revealed that Season 3 will touch on how Fisk’s size and nature as a child pushed him toward darkness, promising a deeper look at the psychology behind the Kingpin persona. He told Reel Rejects that “there’s going to be a lot of action in the third season and emotional journeys as well,” while stressing the show is still working to make this season feel distinct from the two that came before it.
Season 3 was renewed all the way back in September 2025, six months before Season 2 even premiered, a strategy Marvel has used to keep the show on a yearly release cadence. Returning cast members are expected to include Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Deborah Ann Woll, with the season eyeing a premiere date in March 2027. Dario Scardapane remains showrunner, continuing to steer the story he helped rebuild from the ground up after Season 1’s rocky start.
