The past year posed challenges for the much-anticipated ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Despite high expectations, the show’s development faced hurdles, including the impact of the historic SAG-AFTRA strike and creative differences between the studio’s vision and the writers’ delivery. This led to a major overhaul of the first season in late September 2023, with head writers Corman and Ord, as well as the initial directors, being replaced.

Dissatisfaction with the direction, particularly a departure from the Netflix version and delays in featuring Daredevil in costume prompted the studio’s decision. The new direction aimed to incorporate existing footage, introduce new serialized elements, and align more closely with the tone of the Netflix series. Corman and Ord retained executive producer credits, while Dario Scardapane, known for his involvement in Netflix’s ‘The Punisher,’ became the new showrunner in October 2023. Directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, recognized for their work on Marvel Studios’ ‘Moon Knight’ and the second season of ‘Loki,’ were also appointed to helm the revamped series.

We’re having a really good time right now,We’re getting back up. We’re gonna start soon, hopefully sooner than later, and Charlie [Cox] and I feel like the right vibe is there.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is poised to serve as a soft reboot for Netflix’s ‘Daredevil,’ now confirmed as part of the MCU canon. While the series’ overall plot remains shrouded in mystery, we do know that Murdock is embarking on a fresh start by establishing a new law firm, attempting to leave his past behind. Speculation and reports point to Muse as the primary antagonist. Scheduled for release on Disney+ as part of Phase Five of the MCU, the series, initially slated for early 2024 with 18 episodes, encountered delays due to ongoing strikes, ultimately setting the release date for January 2025.
