‘Vision Quest’ Slated for 2026 Release with Paul Bettany Returning

‘WandaVision,’ a hit Marvel series focused on Wanda Maximoff and her grief, was praised for its innovative storytelling and deep character exploration. The show’s success led to two additional spinoffs: ‘Agatha,’ set to arrive on Disney+ later this year, and ‘Vision Quest.’

In October 2022, Deadline reported that the second ‘WandaVision’ series was in development, with Jac Schaeffer as head writer and executive producer. In May 2023, it was announced that Eileen Shim had joined the series as a writer.

Jac Schaeffer, initially set to lead ‘Vision Quest,’ shifted his focus to ‘Agatha All Along.’ Now, Terry Matalas is helming the series. With Matalas on board, Marvel is making its first new live-action series pickup in almost two years, marking a significant shift in its TV production strategy for Disney+. Previously, Marvel followed a feature-film model, assigning leadership mainly to directors and creative executives. Starting in 2022, they adopted a more traditional TV approach, with longer development periods and writer-producers as showrunners.

Set to release in 2026, ‘Vision Quest’ will feature Paul Bettany reprising his role as White Vision, according to Variety.

In the ‘WandaVision’ finale, a new version of Vision, known as White Vision, was created by S.W.O.R.D. Wanda’s Vision attempts to restore White Vision’s memories using the Mind Stone from his own forehead, sparking a philosophical debate about what makes someone the “real” Vision. Ultimately, White Vision regains his memories and leaves without explanation, leaving his fate uncertain. The new show is reportedly set to follow the events of ‘WandaVision.’
