The third episode of ‘War’ arrives next week, and viewers are settling into the rhythm of HBO’s new legal drama. The series was created by George Kay and centers on a bitter divorce between British tech entrepreneur Morgan Henderson and international film star Carla Duval, played by Dominic West and Sienna Miller.

Here is what is known about the release date, streaming options and story ahead for the third episode of ‘War’. The episode is titled “Chip Off the Block” and is scheduled for October 15.

‘War’ Episode 3 Release Date and Time

“Chip Off the Block” was directed by Ben Taylor and written by George Kay, and it is listed for October 15, 2026. The episode is expected to run roughly an hour.

HBO premiered the series on Thursday, October 1 at 9 p.m., with new episodes arriving weekly on Thursdays. That premiere slot applied to both Eastern and Pacific time. Following that pattern, the third episode should arrive at the same hour on its Thursday release date.

Where to Watch ‘War’ Episode 3

In the United States, ‘War’ airs on HBO and streams on HBO Max. Viewers who prefer live television can tune in at the Thursday evening slot, while those who stream can catch up whenever they choose.

International viewers have several options. Canadian audiences can watch on Crave, which began carrying the series on October 1. In the United Kingdom, the show streams on Sky from October 2, with new episodes arriving weekly.

HBO Max also carries the series in Australia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, France and Belgium. A paid subscription is required once the free trial ends.

Episode 3 Preview and What Comes Next

Further details about the third episode have not yet been revealed, so there is no official synopsis to work from. The best guide to where the story is heading is the episode that came before it.

The second episode, “No More Nasty Surprises,” sees Johnny begin his first day while both legal teams look for an advantage during mediation, and Serena works to shape how the case is presented. That setup suggests the next chapter will keep pressing on the strategy behind the divorce.

One critic noted a pattern that may shape what follows. Much of the early energy in the series goes into mediation and arbitration hearings that are bound to fail, since a run of eight episodes points toward the courtroom. If that holds, the third episode is likely another stage in a longer escalation rather than a turning point.

‘War’ Cast and Critical Reception

West and Miller lead a cast that also includes Phoebe Fox, James McArdle, Pip Torrens, Nina Sosanya and Archie Renaux. Celia Imrie and Nick Mohammed round out the ensemble, and Renaux plays young lawyer Jonathan Warren.

The story pits the firms Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne against each other. Sky and HBO ordered two seasons in an anthology format. The second season is led by Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald and David Harewood.

Early reviews have been largely positive. The Telegraph called the two leads perfectly cast, while Radio Times described the show as a triumph. A review on RogerEbert.com argued that the series grows stronger as the season unfolds but takes too long to get its gears turning.

Not every critic has been won over. The Daily Beast described the divorce portrait as superficially knotty, with every complication a cliché. Others have credited the show with a well constructed story and an impressive cast. With the third episode of ‘War’ pulling Johnny further into the fight between Carla’s team at Taylor & Byrne and Morgan’s at Cathcarts & Sons, which side do you think comes out ahead, and does the show earn your sympathy for either spouse in the comments.
