WarGreymon vs. MetalGarurumon: Which Digimon Is More Powerful?
In the expansive universe of Digimon, where valiant Digimon frequently stand up to shield the world from looming threats, the measure of strength is undeniably crucial. It’s only natural for enthusiasts to be drawn into debates over the power dynamics of these digital entities. In this article, our spotlight zeroes in on a thrilling showdown between WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon. These two powerhouses, first introduced in Digimon Adventure, promise an epic match-up worth exploring further!
WarGreymon
WarGreymon is a Mega-level Dragon Man Digimon that debuted in Digimon Adventure as the final basic Digivolution form of Tai Yagami’s Agumon; it was one of the protagonists of the whole Adventure arc, which ended just recently with Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna.
Level | Attribute | Type | Main Attack |
---|---|---|---|
Mega | Vaccine | Dragon Man Digimon | Terra Force |
WarGreymon is the mightiest dragon champion, armored in the ultra-strong metal called Chrome Digizoid. While its stature diverges from the typical massive Greymon lineage, its enhanced speed and strength make it a formidable opponent, likely unbeatable even by Ultimate Digimon.
Its arms are fitted with the Dramon Destroyers, which are incredibly effective against Dramon-type Digimon. However, these powerful tools come with a catch; they also pose a significant danger to WarGreymon itself.
The protective casings on its back can merge to form the “Brave Shield,” renowned for its unparalleled durability. Legends say that when experienced warriors recognize their purpose, they evolve into WarGreymon.
WarGreymon is immensely powerful, and when it first appeared during the fight against VenomMyotismon, it was truly an enormous moment. WarGreymon was able to defeat two of the Dark Masters in one blow (MetalSeadramon and Machinedramon), it was able to hold his own against BlackWarGreymon (who was also enormously powerful), and it played a very important role in Digimon Xros Wars.
Its frame is armored with Chrome Digizoid, enhancing its defense capabilities. This, combined with its remarkable speed and immense power, makes it a force to be reckoned with.
Its primary offensive move, the Terra Force attack harnesses atmospheric energy, focusing it into a highly concentrated, super-heated energy blast, with two even mightier versions available.
Another formidable attack, the Great Tornado, allows it to spin with the force of a cyclone and charge at its adversary. This attack was so potent that it obliterated MetalSeadramon in mere moments.
As far as his basic Digivolution line is concerned, it looks like this:
Fresh | In-Training | Rookie | Champion | Ultimate | Mega |
Botamon | Koromon | Agumon | Greymon | MetalGreymon | WarGreymon |
MetalGarurumon
MetalGarurumon is a Mega-level Cyborg Digimon that debuted in Digimon Adventure as the final basic Digivolution of Yamato (Matt) Ishida’s Gabumon; it was one of the protagonists of the whole Adventure arc, which ended just recently with Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna.
Level | Attribute | Type | Main Attack |
---|---|---|---|
Mega | Data | Cyborg Digimon | Metal Wolf Claw |
As the pinnacle evolution of the Gabumon lineage, MetalGarurumon has fortified itself by adopting a near-complete metallic exterior.
This metallization process hasn’t dulled its intrinsic sharpness. Instead, it’s equipped with a myriad of concealed weapons throughout its body, rivaling those of MegaGargomon, its high-temperature counterpart, contrasting MetalGarurumon’s cooler nature.
From the four Laser Sights adorning its snout, it emits undetectable lasers. With advanced sensors like infrared and X-rays, it’s adept at analyzing and tracking targets, making evading MetalGarurumon’s gaze virtually impossible, even in complete darkness.
Additionally, from its dorsal arms, it can project wing-like beams, enabling it to soar through the Net Space at astonishing speeds.
MetalGarurumon is one of the fastest Digimon out there. Its speed is amazing, and when combined with its strong, ice-type attacks, MetalGarurumon becomes a formidable opponent.
It participated in the destruction of VenomMyotismon and could resist Puppetmon’s strings and kill the Dark Master with one blow of its frosty breath. MetalGarurumon is one of the strongest basic, Mega-level Digimon in the franchise.
As far as his basic Digivolution line is concerned, it looks like this:
Fresh | In-Training | Rookie | Champion | Ultimate | Mega |
Punimon | Tsunomon | Gabumon | Garurumon | WereGarurumon | MetalGarurumon |
Who would win – WarGreymon or MetalGarurumon?
Now that we have seen all the basic attributes of the two Mega-level Digimon let us see which one would win in direct combat.
If you ever wondered whether these two Digimon fought against each other in the anime – they have! It happened in episode 45 of Digimon Adventure, titled “The Ultimate Clash” (“Clash of the Ultimates! WarGreymon vs. MetalGarurumon”). In that episode, Yamato (Matt) had to resolve some personal issues and forced Tai and WarGreymon into a fight.
Although MetalGarurumon was quite intent on fighting his friend, WarGreymon focused more on defending than directly attacking. The fight ended with no clear winner, as Homeostasis again took over Kari’s body, interrupting the fight.
You can check the whole fight in the video below (we’re sorry for the German dub, but we couldn’t find a good Japanese or English dub):
So, the two of them seem to be equally strong in terms of sheer power, but this still merits a proper explanation.
When comparing power and might, WarGreymon appears to hold a modest edge over MetalGarurumon. Recalling instances where WarGreymon effortlessly tore through MetalSeadramon and sliced Machinedramon to shreds, it’s evident that its physical prowess surpasses that of MetalGarurumon. Moreover, WarGreymon’s most potent attack outclasses the peak assault of MetalGarurumon.
In addition to that, WarGreymon uses fire-based attacks, while MetalGarurumon uses ice-based attacks, and we all know that fire beats ice any day of the week.
When it comes to combat expertise, WarGreymon undeniably surpasses MetalGarurumon in proficiency. While MetalGarurumon leans on its agility and distant assaults, WarGreymon excels in hand-to-hand combat. A prowess vividly demonstrated in its clash with BlackWarGreymon.
Their defenses are equally strong. MetalGarururmon’s body is made of metal, while WarGreymon’s armor is made of Chrome Digizoid. Both of these metals have the same strength, so we can conclude that their defensive capabilities are equal, with no clear winner.
The only aspect where MetalGarurumon definitely beats WarGreymon is speed, although not by much. MetalGarurumon’s whole character is based on speed and is a level above WarGreymon, who is also very fast and faster than many other Digimon.
Now that we have compared them, we can see that – despite the non-conclusive fight in the anime – WarGreymon would be able to defeat MetalGarurumon as it is stronger and a better fighter; despite its speed, MetalGarurumon wouldn’t stand much chance against WarGreymon at its best.
