What Happened to Din Djarin’s Rifle? Does the Mandalorian Still Use It?

As a Mandalorian, Din Djarin is a weapons expert who uses many different weapons to defeat his opponents. Mandalorians are known to rely on their armor for protection, but they also have guns and other close-combat weapons that allow them to win different fights. In Din Djarin’s case, he relied heavily on using his rifle, an Amban phase-pulse blaster, for long-range combat. But what happened to it?
Din Djarin lost his Amban phase-pulse blaster during the events of season 2 of The Mandalorian when he left it in the Razor Crest, which was destroyed by Moff Gideon when he took Grogu. As such, Din Djarin no longer uses the rifle because it was destroyed along with his ship.
The Mandalorian did a great job in terms of the continuity of the series, as the writers allowed us to see how Din Djarin no longer has the rifle that he relied heavily on during the first two seasons. In that regard, Din now mostly relies on his blaster pistol for ranged combat as he no longer has his rifle. Now, let’s take a good look at what happened to Din Djarin’s rifle.
Does Din Djarin Still Have His Rifle?
When the storyline of The Mandalorian started, Din Djarin was portrayed as a Western-style character that relied a lot on the use of his guns in the many different missions he undertook. After all, Mandalorians are known to be weapons experts that know how to use various weapons because that has always been a part of their training. And blasters are some of the weapons that Mandalorians are known to excel at.
In Din Djarin’s case, he showcased his incredible shooting skills using a rifle called the Amban phase-pulse blaster. He usually carried this rifle on his back and mostly used it whenever he needed to take down an enemy from a long-range or when he had to scout from a distance because this rifle had a powerful scope. Of course, the rifle also allowed him to instantly take out opponents with a single shot from a long range.
Nevertheless, Din has diversified his weapons since the first season. He now has more weapons than he ever did in the first few episodes of The Mandalorian. In fact, at one point, he possessed a Beskar Steel spear and the Darksaber, only for him to give up those weapons. As such, in the recent events of The Mandalorian, Din mostly relies on his blaster pistol. But does he still have his rifle?
Ever since the latter parts of The Mandalorian season 2 and the events of The Book of Boba Fett, it was made clear that Din Djarin no longer has his Amban phase-pulse blaster. That is why he often relied on his blaster pistol for long-range combat. And he also relied heavily on the Darksaber whenever he needed to fight enemies from a close range.
Of course, Din also relied on the many different weapons and armaments that his Mandalorian armor comes with. This included his whistling bird launcher and his flamethrower. However, he no longer has a sniper rifle to rely on, as he lost his Amban phase-pulse blaster at one point in the series.
What Happened to Din Djarin’s Rifle?
Even though Din Djarin relied heavily on his rifle during the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, he eventually lost that weapon at one point in the storyline. And this happened when he took Grogu to Tython so that the little guy could use the Force to communicate with the other Force-sensitive users throughout the galaxy.
During that episode, Moff Gideon and his forces appeared on Tython. They overwhelmed Din Djarin and Boba Fett, who followed the titular Mandalorian to that planet so that he could get his armor back. During that battle, Djarin and Fett could hold their own against the Stormtroopers, only for them to realize that they had no chance against the Dark Troopers, which took Grogu.
Of course, Moff Gideon ensured that Din Djarin couldn’t follow him immediately. He used his light cruiser to shoot an orbital laser that instantly destroyed Din’s ship, the Razor Crest. To make things worse, Din’s Amban phase-pulse blaster was in that ship. The Mandalorian’s blaster rifle was destroyed along with the Razor Crest due to Moff Gideon’s attack.
As such, Din Djarin proceeded with his mission to take back Grogu even though he lost his ship and his most powerful blaster. Nevertheless, he did obtain the Darksaber after defeating Moff Gideon, only for him to give it to Bo-Katan in episode 6 of season 3 after realizing that Kryze was the rightful owner of the weapon.
Will Din Djarin Get a New Rifle?
At this point, Din Djarin’s weapons are now limited to a few. He gave up his Beskar Steel spear to turn it into Grogu’s Mandalorian chainmail. After giving up the Darksaber, he only has his vibro-knife as his main close-range weapon. As far as his long-range weapons are concerned, he only has his blaster pistol.
In that regard, there’s a good chance that Din will get a new weapon at one point in the future of The Mandalorian, as he has already lost a good number of his weapons. His rifle, spear, and Darksaber were all reliable weapons he used several times in different missions. However, he has lost all of them and is now down to his trusty pistol. As such, he might obtain a new weapon or buy a new rifle to replace his destroyed Amban phase-pulse blaster.
Then again, we know that the Children of the Watch and the other Mandalorians aren’t wealthy. In episode 5 of season 3, the Children of the Watch admitted that they didn’t have ships outside of Din’s N1 and Bo-Katan’s ship, as it is possible that they don’t have the money or the resources to buy ships and more weapons.
This implies that Din Djarin probably doesn’t have enough funds to buy himself a new rifle. After all, he spent good money on his N1 Starfighter and R5. As such, it might take a while for him to get the funding he needs to buy new weapons to replace the ones he lost and willingly gave up.
But from the looks of things, the Mandalorians are now recovering in terms of their finances and resources, especially after saving Nevarro from the pirates and obtaining Bo-Katan’s lost fleet of ships. That’s why we believe that Din might eventually find the right blaster that could serve as one of his primary weapons.
