In episode 1 of The Book of Boba Fett, one of the first things you will notice at the beginning of the episode is that Boba Fett is fighting his way out of what seems to be the insides of a monster. After that, he uses his flamethrower to escape it, and we see him resting on the sand after escaping that sand monster. But, for those who haven’t seen the first Star Wars trilogy, what was the sand monster in The Book of Boba Fett?

The sand monster that Boba Fett crawls out of in The Book of Boba Fett is called a Sarlacc. A Sarlacc is a monster that burrows into the sand and keeps its entire body in it except for its mouth. It uses its mouth to capture any prey that wanders into its pit, as its entire body stays stationary during adulthood.

One of the things that make Star Wars such as great franchise is that it is not short on the monsters that add some fun and excitement. In that case, the Sarlacc has always been one of the most terrifying creatures you will ever see in the entire Star Wars franchise, as it played a minor yet important role in the original trilogy and was one of the first monsters featured in The Book of Boba Fett.

What was the sand creature in the book of Boba Fett?

When The Book of Boba Fett was released, one of the first things we saw was Boba Fett crawling inside of something that seemed to be the belly of a monster. He was able to use his remaining strength to get himself out of that situation, and that basically answered the question of how Boba Fett was able to survive following the events that transpired more than three decades ago in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

That said, while most of the people who watched the first trilogy are familiar with the monster that we see Boba Fett crawling out of, there are still some people who do not know what that sand creature is. This is probably due to the fact that these people have only begun watching Star Wars and are too young to have seen the first trilogy. So, for the sake of those who don’t know, what is the sand monster in The Book of Boba Fett?

The sand monster that Boba Fett crawled out of at the beginning of The Book of Boba Fett is called a Sarlacc. This monster is a large creature that keeps its mouth exposed, all while its entire body stays burrowed in the sand and remains stationary. From there, anything that falls into the Sarlacc’s pit will be eaten and will remain in its stomach for a very long time because of how this monster has the ability to slowly digest whatever it eats.

Because of the fact that the Sarlacc has very slow digestion that can last for hundreds or even thousands of years, Jabba has been using it as an execution pit that also tortures those he wants to be executed. That’s because the person remains in the belly of the Sarlacc for a very long time and will die not because of digestion but because of suffocation and the lack of nutrients.

Is Sarlacc a worm?

The Sarlacc has always been one of the most monstrous creatures that we will ever see in Star Wars because of how weird its physiology is. That means that there is no clear indication of what this monster is.

However, the Sarlacc does resemble a worm in the sense that it has an elongated body. But take note that the Sarlacc also has tentacles and appendages that seem to be arms sprouting out of its body.

That said, while the Sarlacc may resemble a worm in some of its physiological aspects, there is no clear answer as to what this beast is. What we can say for sure is that the Sarlacc is a sand monster that’s entirely unique on its own because of the fact that it doesn’t resemble anything that you will find in the real world.

How large is a Sarlacc?

On top of the fact that the Sarlacc is a hideous beast that is capable of some of the most horrific ways to kill you while you are in its stomach, this monster is also quite large. This wasn’t apparent at first when we saw it in Return of the Jedi and The Book of Boba Fett because we only see its mouth.

However, the truth is that the Sarlacc is a very large creature. Its mouth is already big, but its entire body is a lot bigger. A full-sized adult Sarlacc can grow up to 100 meters long. That is over 328 feet, and that means that it is a very large creature that can easily be as tall as a building if its body were to come out of the sand.

Can the Sarlacc be killed?

As big and as monstrous as the Sarlacc is, it isn’t invincible. That’s because the Sarlacc acts more like a carnivorous plant in the sense that it stays stationary throughout its entire life the moment it reaches adulthood. As such, as long as you can avoid getting caught up in its pit, you can kill a Sarlacc.

In fact, in Return of the Jedi, Jabba the Hutt’s ship exploded near the mouth of the Sarlacc, and that caused injuries to the beast. While the ultimate fate of the Sarlacc is unclear, there is an ongoing belief that it was killed when Jabba’s ship crashed and exploded on it. Of course, it appeared pretty dead when Boba escaped from its belly through his flamethrower.

As such, a Sarlacc can be killed through an explosion big enough and as long as the beast is within the vicinity of the explosion. And if Boba Fett was the one who ultimately killed it, we can assume that attacking it from the inside can kill it as well.

However, the Sarlacc isn’t the biggest baddie in the sands of Tatooine. While the Krayt Dragon may not be as big as the Sarlacc, it is considered the alpha of the entire Tatooine sands, as it is the only creature capable of killing a Sarlacc. As such, a monster that is big, strong, and mobile enough in the sands is more than capable of killing an adult Sarlacc.

How do you escape Sarlacc?

The problem when it comes to Sarlaccs the moment they consume you is that you are left trapped in its belly as the beast slowly digests you. It uses a neurotoxin to keep you paralyzed, all while the lack of oxygen and nutrients in the belly slowly kills you. This makes escaping the belly of the beast nearly impossible.

However, as Boba Fett was able to show, it is possible to escape the Sarlacc’s belly. Luckily for Boba, he had enough oxygen left in his suit and a host of different armaments that allowed him to find a way out of the beast. In a way, he used his flamethrower and his other equipment to escape a Sarlacc. Someone who isn’t as well-equipped as a person wearing Mandalorian armor probably wouldn’t be able to escape a Sarlacc’s stomach.
