Naruto vs. Pain episodes

The Leaf Village has been razed to the ground, but the inhabitants, thanks to the help of the Hokage and Katsuyu, survive. Naruto, together with the toads Shima, Fukasaku, Gamabunta, Gamaken and Gamahiro, begins his battle with the six paths of Pain by destroying the World of the Asura and landing the World of the Pretas.

Angered to discover that Pain was also a student of Jiraiya, the ninja of the Leaf unleashes his new technique, the improved version of Rasenshuriken (Fuuton, Rasenshuriken) in Sennin (eremitic) mode. Naruto continues his battle against Pain by managing to defeat several of his opponent’s bodies. When the hermit mode reaches its limit, Pain attempts to take control of the fight, but Naruto summons a clone from Mount Myoboku and manages to return to the hermit mode.

The boy lands the Preta World and defeats the Naraka World, but, before he manages to attack the Divine World as well, it repels him with a Shinra Tensei. Naruto realizes that he cannot use martial arts or magical arts on the remaining bodies and therefore has to resort to the illusory arts of the hermit toads Shima and Fukasaku.

While Inoichi Yamanaka and the others search for Pain’s real body, Naruto attempts to fend off the attacks of the remaining bodies. The Preta World manages to absorb the natural energy from the boy and, not being able to control it, he turns into a toad and remains petrified. At that moment, the Divine World kills Fukasaku before he is able to complete the illusory technique he was preparing together with Shima and immobilizes Naruto to the ground.

Pain explains to Naruto his conception of peace and the reasons that push him to capture the hunters. Hinata Hyuga, who is watching the fight with her Byakugan, is very worried. Hinata reminds her of her childhood and her meeting with Naruto and decides to intervene in the clash between Alba’s boss and the supporting force.

Naruto orders her to run away, but the girl remains with her and confesses her love for her long kept hidden. Team Gai arrives at the gates of the village and, elsewhere, Shikamaru’s group decides to split into teams of two to look for the body of the real Pain. Meanwhile, Naruto, after Hinata declares her love and admiration for him and after attempting to free him, seeing Pain severely hurt the girl in front of his eyes, blind with anger at the loss of Hinata, releases the power of the Nine-Tailed Fox.

Naruto unleashes the strength of the Fox by first manifesting four tails and then six. He then activates the sealing technique contained in the pendant of the First Hokage, but the Fox manages to break it and destroy the pendant given by Tsunade to Naruto. Meanwhile, Yamato, engaged in a mission to find Kabuto together with Sai and Anko Mitarashi, learns that Naruto has broken the sealing technique and is preparing to return to the village noticing the growing queues.

Pain creates a small suspended satellite with his Chibaku Tensei and traps Naruto, who releases two more tails to free himself reaching eight, one step away from the ninth. Subjugated by the Fox, Naruto is about to remove the Octagonal Seal within his subconscious to gain all the power of the demon and free him when the Fourth Hokage intervenes to stop him.

Minato reveals to Naruto that he is his father and that he sealed half of the Nine-Code chakra inside the boy sixteen years earlier, when the Fox attacked the village under the influence of Tobi’s sharingan. After reactivating Naruto’s octagonal seal, the Hokage takes leave of his son, placing his trust in him, confident that the son will find a solution and bring peace.

Regaining control of his body, Naruto faces the World of the Devas and manages to discover, by piercing himself with one of Pain’s chakra receptors through the hermit mode, the position of Nagato not far from the battlefield. Distracting him with the Superior Technique of Multiplication of the Body, the ninja of the Leaf manages to hit the last body of Pain, during the latency phase (lasting about five seconds) of the Shinra Tensei, with the Rasengan.
