Season one

Spencer James is a young football player from Crenshaw who Billy Baker recruits to come and play football for Beverly High. Back in Crenshaw, his family and friend have problems of their own, and Spencer is trying hard to balance his life in Beverly Hills and be there for his loved one back at home. Spencer’s best friend, Coop, gets herself into gang-related problems. After abandoning his family many years before, Spencer’s father, Corey, returns to his life, and Spencer learns the truth about why he left in the first place. Spencer leads his team to the state championship title.

Season two

In the second season, Spencer has some tough decisions to make. He has to decide where he will be playing football. Coop is giving herself a shot in the music industry, Olivia is going through her recovery process, and Layla is struggling alone, not letting anyone near. Baker’s family is trying to resolve their issues regarding Billy’s past. Layla and Coop start collaborating on Coop’s music, and problems in South Crenshaw reemerge when Tyrone is back on the streets. Spencer suffers an injury that could potentially end his career. Crenshaw High is going through some major structural changes, and Spencer has an idea of how to resolve the issue.

Season three

Spencer and his friends are in their senior year of high school. The pressure is high, on the pitch and off it, as everyone has to be on top of their game to get into college. Spencer is struggling and wants to spend some time alone, but his friends are there to support him. Olivia is pursuing a new sponsor regarding her sobriety, and Coop’s career is doing well. Layla welcomes a friend to her home, but it does not end well. Jordan and Asher are worried about their future. Scouts are coming to see their potential recruits, and Spencer needs to decide if he’s willing to accept the offer, which comes with some strings attached.

Season four

The first part of the fourth season is trying to wrap up the events after Beverly and Crenshaw State Championship. They have mixed opinions about who won. The all-American game is happening, and Spencer is worried about his ability to perform at his best. Olivia becomes a sponsor herself. Prom night is finally there; some are more excited about it than others. The college started in the other half of the season, and everyone had to adjust to their new lives. Spencer, Olivia, and Jordan go to the same college, but they soon learn that balancing their private lives and obligations won’t be as easy as they thought. Spencer has to work very hard to prove himself worthy to his new coach.

Season five

Oliva and Billy decide to investigate the events on campus, and Layla wants her father’s firm back. Coop becomes very invested in one of Laura’s cases. Spencer wants to help Olivia with her investigation by persuading his teammates to come forward about what they know. JJ is organizing another one of his sessions for his friends to help them resolve their inner issues. Asher finds himself in a new role as a talent recruiter.
