Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness proves to be one of the most unique additions to the huge roster of Marvel Studios movies. After two hours of some of the most brutal and scariest scenes in MCU history, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gave us a great mid-credit scene that allowed us to see what could be next for Stephen Strange. Of course, this is in connection to the final scene at the end of the movie before the mid-credit scene rolled out, as Doctor Strange awakened a third eye that could be connected to the fact that he used the Darkhold to stop Wanda from killing America Chavez.

In this mid-credit scene, Strange is seen walking the streets of New York like a regular New Yorker on a normal day. However, a woman played by Charlize Theron and dressed in fancy purple clothes appears behind Strange and calls him out by his name. She tells him that he had caused an incursion when he traveled to different universes during the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

At first, this woman seemed to be quite apprehensive in her approach. However, she opened a portal that seemed to be connected to another dimension as she asked Doctor Strange if he was willing to tag along to prevent the incursion from happening. Take note that an incursion is when two universes collide and destroy one another as a result of a person from another universe meddling with the affairs of a different universe.

To that end, Strange agreed to tag along with this mysterious woman as his third eye opened before the film’s end-credit scenes rolled out. But who is this woman at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?

Only familiar to comic book readers, the woman at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is named Clea the Sorceress. She is a staple in the Doctor Strange comics and is actually one of the love interests of the sorcerer himself.

Clea: Charlize Theron’s Character In Doctor Strange 2 Explained

Clea is not from the material plane but is a being that lives in the Dark Dimension of Earth-616, which is the universe where the MCU is set. The Dark Dimension was introduced during the events of the first Doctor Strange movie as this is the dimension where Dormammu lives. In that regard, Clea basically lives in the dimension ruled by Dormammu himself.

As a being living in the Dark Dimension, Clea is not human. She is actually the daughter of Prince Orini, the mortal son of the former ruler of the Dark Dimension, and of Umar, a Faltine who is the sister of Dormammu. As such, Clea has the blood of a Dark Dimension mortal and a Faltine. However, Umar was already weakened and could no longer assume her Faltine form by the time she had Clea. She abandoned her daughter, and that’s why Orini raised her alone in the Dark Dimension that Dormammu ruled.

In the comics, Clea met Doctor Strange when the sorcerer went on a mission to defeat Dormammu. She got curious about the human as she had never met one before, and that was when they ultimately became allies to the point that Strange bargained for Clea’s life when Dormammu imprisoned her for betraying him.

Eventually, Clea learned the mystic arts from Doctor Strange, but she was always a natural because of her status as the daughter of a Dark Dimension royal and a Faltine. As such, she is capable of magical feats that don’t require her to tap into the mystic arts.

How Will Clea’s Appearance Affect Doctor Strange’s Future?

As of this moment, we don’t know what the MCU has in store for Clea but what we do know is that her appearance at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when she invited Strange to help her stop an incursion might have a connection with the next movie that’s in store for the Doctor Strange movie series. It could be possible that the next film will be about them preventing this incursion, but it could also be possible that the next film will happen after they had already succeeded in their mission of stopping this incursion.

But what we are quite sure of is the possibility of Clea becoming Doctor Strange’s next love interest, especially with how Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was able to close the chapter on the relationship between Doctor Stephen Strange and Doctor Christine Palmer.

In the movie, the 616 version of Palmer had moved on from Strange and had already married. Meanwhile, the 838 version of Palmer lost 838 Strange but ended up forming a bond with 616 Strange. But while the chemistry between the two was palpable, they ultimately realized that they lived in totally different universes. Nevertheless, the chapter between Strange and Palmer closed when the sorcerer had a moment of catharsis upon admitting that he loved her in every universe.

So, while Doctor Strange didn’t get the girl, he ultimately was able to move on with his life happier than he used to be. This was symbolized by the fact that he repaired the prized watch that Christine gave him during their younger days.

Going back to our point, it could be possible that, since Strange is now ready to move forward, Clea will be the sorcerer’s next love interest. In the comics, the two eventually fell in love and lived together as husband and wife on Earth. As such, Clea might be Strange’s next love interest now that he had already had ßclosure with Christine Palmer. Still, nothing is certain as there are a lot of things that could change from now until the next Doctor Strange movie.
