‘Spider-Man: Homecoming,’ released in 2017, was a big hit with fans. Tom Holland’s portrayal of Peter Parker was widely praised for being youthful and relatable. Fans enjoyed the mix of humor, action, and heartfelt moments, which gave the movie a fresh feel compared to earlier Spider-Man films.

That’s why people still talk about it today, and new behind-the-scenes stories are always exciting to hear. Recently, WWE Superstar Austin Theory shared some surprising details about his experience working as an extra on the film.

Before his WWE career took off, Austin Theory worked as an extra in movies filmed in Atlanta, including Spider-Man: Homecoming. He played a prison inmate in the mid-credits scene where Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton) talks to Mac Gargan (Michael Mando).

Theory shared that the scene was filmed in a real prison with actual inmates locked up nearby!

That was a crazy day, they were actually in the Jackson prison in Georgia. We went down there. We put on prisoner outfits and everything, and they said, ‘Hey, make sure when we tell you guys to line up and you’re walking to not touch the bars, do not encourage the inmates, because the inmates were yelling at us.’

They were wild, yeah, yeah. So this was real. And then we’re in two lines. So one line’s walking this way down the hall, and one’s going this way. And then you have the scene with Michael Keaton, and you can see me walk right by real quick, and a couple of people have caught it online. Maybe they bring me back in the Marvel Universe.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about this. Michael Mando talked about it back when Spider-Man: Homecoming came out, sharing that his end-credits scene was filmed during a real prison riot. The noise from all the screaming made it too hard to hear, so they had to redo all the dialogue later with voiceovers.

It’s definitely one of the most interesting behind-the-scenes stories we’ve come across! And who knows? Maybe we’ll see Austin Theory return to the MCU in a bigger role someday.
